And a great many people were added to the Lord.Then Barnabas departed for Tarsus to seek Saul.And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.And in these days prophets came from Jerusalem to Antioch.

And Joses, who was also named Barnabas by the apostles( which is translated Son of Encouragement), a Levite of the country of Cyprus,

Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,

And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,

Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith;or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching;

Paul and Barnabas also remained in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.

And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles?

Now Judas and Silas, themselves being prophets also, exhorted and strengthened the brethren with many words.

Now this man had four virgin daughters who prophesied.

On that very day some Pharisees came, saying to Him,“ Get out and depart from here, for Herod wants to kill You.”And He said to them,“ Go, tell that fox,‘ Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.’

This they also did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an uninformed person comes in, he is convinced by all, he is convicted by all.And thus the secrets of his heart are revealed; and so, falling down on his face, he will worship God and report that God is truly among you.

And as soon as he knew that He belonged to Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent Him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem at that time.Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad; for he had desired for a long time to see Him, because he had heard many things about Him, and he hoped to see some miracle done by Him.Then he questioned Him with many words, but He answered him nothing.And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused Him.Then Herod, with his men of war, treated Him with contempt and mocked Him, arrayed Him in a gorgeous robe, and sent Him back to Pilate.

From there they sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work which they had completed.Now when they had come and gathered the church together, they reported all that God had done with them, and that He had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.

Or is it only Barnabas and I who have no right to refrain from working?

And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.

Now Saul was consenting to his death. At that time a great persecution arose against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering every house, and dragging off men and women, committing them to prison.

But Herod the tetrarch, being rebuked by him concerning Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done,also added this, above all, that he shut John up in prison.

All the saints greet you, but especially those who are of Caesar’s household.

At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the report about Jesusand said to his servants,“ This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead, and therefore these powers are at work in him.”For Herod had laid hold of John and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife.Because John had said to him,“ It is not lawful for you to have her.”And although he wanted to put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.But when Herod’s birthday was celebrated, the daughter of Herodias danced before them and pleased Herod.Therefore he promised with an oath to give her whatever she might ask.So she, having been prompted by her mother, said,“ Give me John the Baptist’s head here on a platter.”And the king was sorry; nevertheless, because of the oaths and because of those who sat with him, he commanded it to be given to her.So he sent and had John beheaded in prison.

Timothy, my fellow worker, and Lucius, Jason, and Sosipater, my countrymen, greet you.

Then Saul, who also is called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him

And the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy.

Now those who were scattered after the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to no one but the Jews only.But some of them were men from Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they had come to Antioch, spoke to the Hellenists, preaching the Lord Jesus.

and when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that had been given to me, they gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.

Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest

And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem when they had fulfilled their ministry, and they also took with them John whose surname was Mark.

Do not despise prophecies.
