and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s chains were unfastened.

But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the gates of the prison, and leading them out, he said,

They forced his feet into shackles, He was put in irons;Until the time that his word came to pass, The word of the Lord refined him.The king sent and released him, The ruler of peoples, and set him free.

Who executes justice for the oppressed; Who gives food to the hungry. The Lord frees the prisoners.

Give Your attention to my cry, For I have been brought very low; Rescue me from my persecutors, For they are too strong for me.Bring my soul out of prison, So that I may give thanks to Your name; The righteous will surround me, For You will look after me.”

The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, And rescues them.

He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death And broke their bands apart.

O Lord, I surely am Your slave, I am Your slave, the son of Your female slave, You have unfastened my restraints.

For this reason it says,“ Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you.”

“ Then this shall be the sign for you: you will eat this year what grows of itself, in the second year what grows from the same, and in the third year sow, harvest, plant vineyards, and eat their fruit.

But the angel of the Lord came back a second time and touched him, and said,“ Arise, eat; because the journey is too long for you.”

When morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying,“ Up, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away in the punishment of the city.”But he hesitated. So the men grasped his hand and the hand of his wife and the hands of his two daughters, because the compassion of the Lord was upon him; and they brought him out and put him outside the city.

and behold, the glory of the God of Israel was coming from the way of the east. And His voice was like the sound of many waters; and the earth shone from His glory.

The wicked spies upon the righteous And seeks to kill him.The Lord will not leave him in his hand Or let him be condemned when he is judged.

For You are my lamp, Lord; And the Lord illuminates my darkness.

“ Arise, shine; for your light has come, And the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.

I will endure the rage of the Lord Because I have sinned against Him, Until He pleads my case and executes justice for me. He will bring me out to the light, And I will look at His righteousness.

But God raised Him from the dead, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.

Now as he was traveling, it happened that he was approaching Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him;

Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astounded and stood up quickly; he said to his counselors,“ Was it not three men that we threw bound into the middle of the fire?” They replied to the king,“ Absolutely, O king.”He responded,“ Look! I see four men untied and walking about in the middle of the fire unharmed, and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods!”

Then he lay down and fell asleep under a broom tree; but behold, there was an angel touching him, and he said to him,“ Arise, eat!”

My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not harmed me, since I was found innocent before Him; and also toward you, O king, I have committed no crime.”

For this very night an angel of the God to whom I belong, whom I also serve, came to me,saying,‘ Do not be afraid, Paul; you must stand before Caesar; and behold, God has graciously granted you all those who are sailing with you.’

On the very night when Herod was about to bring him forward, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and guards in front of the door were watching over the prison.

Sun and moon stood in their lofty places; They went away at the light of Your arrows, At the radiance of Your flashing spear.

Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to provide service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?

After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illuminated from his glory.

His radiance is like the sunlight; He has rays flashing from His hand, And the hiding of His might is there.

Cornelius said,“ Four days ago to this hour, I was praying in my house during the ninth hour; and behold, a man stood before me in shining clothing,

And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood near them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened.

While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men suddenly stood near them in gleaming clothing;
