後來，守望者（按照《馬索拉文本》，“守望者”作“獅子”；現參照《死海古卷》和《叙利亞文古譯本》翻譯）喊叫著說：“主啊！我每日不斷站在守望樓上，每夜立在我守望的崗位中。

禮拜日黃昏的時候，門徒聚在一起，因為怕猶太人，就把門戶都關上。耶穌來了，站在他們中間，說：“願你們平安。”

於是，約瑟把他們收在監房裡三天。

他們把他收在監裡，因為要怎樣辦他，還未明朗。

“我耶和華所膏立的古列，我緊握著他的右手，使列國降服在他面前；我也鬆開列王的腰帶；我使門戶在他面前敞開，使城門不得關閉；耶和華對古列這樣說：我必親自領導你，把高低不平的路修平；銅門，我必打破；鐵門，我必砍斷。

“你要寫信給在非拉鐵非教會的使者，說：‘那聖潔的、真實的，拿著大衛的鑰匙，開了就沒有人能關，關了就沒有人能開的（“拿著大衛的鑰匙……沒有人能開的”引自賽22:22），這樣說：

捉到了，就把他關在監裡，交給四班士兵看守，每班四個人，打算過了逾越節，把他提出來交給民眾。

過了八天，門徒又在屋子裡，多馬也和他們在一起。門戶都關上了。耶穌來了，站在他們中間，說：“願你們平安。”
