The disciples, as each one was able, decided to provide help for the brothers and sisters living in Judea.

Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have.Of course, I don’t mean your giving should make life easy for others and hard for yourselves. I only mean that there should be some equality.Right now you have plenty and can help those who are in need. Later, they will have plenty and can share with you when you need it. In this way, things will be equal.

They are being tested by many troubles, and they are very poor. But they are also filled with abundant joy, which has overflowed in rich generosity.For I can testify that they gave not only what they could afford, but far more. And they did it of their own free will.They begged us again and again for the privilege of sharing in the gift for the believers in Jerusalem.

and each leader gave as much as he could. The total of their gifts came to 61,000 gold coins, 6,250 pounds of silver, and 100 robes for the priests.

When he found him, he brought him back to Antioch. Both of them stayed there with the church for a full year, teaching large crowds of people.( It was at Antioch that the believers were first called Christians.)

Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said,“ I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”So we can say with confidence,“ The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?”

At the meeting I said to them,“ We are doing all we can to redeem our Jewish relatives who have had to sell themselves to pagan foreigners, but you are selling them back into slavery again. How often must we redeem them?” And they had nothing to say in their defense.

“ And don’t be concerned about what to eat and what to drink. Don’t worry about such things.These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers all over the world, but your Father already knows your needs.Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need.“ So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.“ Sell your possessions and give to those in need. This will store up treasure for you in heaven! And the purses of heaven never get old or develop holes. Your treasure will be safe; no thief can steal it and no moth can destroy it.

Their only suggestion was that we keep on helping the poor, which I have always been eager to do.

I really don’t need to write to you about this ministry of giving for the believers in Jerusalem.For I know how eager you are to help, and I have been boasting to the churches in Macedonia that you in Greece were ready to send an offering a year ago. In fact, it was your enthusiasm that stirred up many of the Macedonian believers to begin giving.

Soon the news reached the apostles and other believers in Judea that the Gentiles had received the word of God.

But before I come, I must go to Jerusalem to take a gift to the believers there.For you see, the believers in Macedonia and Achaia have eagerly taken up an offering for the poor among the believers in Jerusalem.They were glad to do this because they feel they owe a real debt to them. Since the Gentiles received the spiritual blessings of the Good News from the believers in Jerusalem, they feel the least they can do in return is to help them financially.

Send your grain across the seas, and in time, profits will flow back to you.But divide your investments among many places, for you do not know what risks might lie ahead.

Now regarding your question about the money being collected for God’s people in Jerusalem. You should follow the same procedure I gave to the churches in Galatia.On the first day of each week, you should each put aside a portion of the money you have earned. Don’t wait until I get there and then try to collect it all at once.

And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had.They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need.

There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them

or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.

Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay.God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.
