So when Peter went up to Jerusalem, the circumcised believers criticized him

Peter went up to Jerusalem. There the Jewish believers found fault with him.

All the Jewish believers who came with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had also been poured out on the Gentiles.

And when they heard about them, they began glorifying God; and they said to him,“ You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed, and they are all zealous for the Law;and they have been told about you, that you are teaching all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to abandon Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children nor to walk according to the customs.So what is to be done? They will certainly hear that you have come.Therefore, do as we tell you: we have four men who have a vow upon themselves;

Some men came down from Judea and began teaching the brothers,“ Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”

On the next day, as they were on their way and approaching the city, Peter went up on the housetop about the sixth hour to pray.

But some of the sect of the Pharisees who had believed stood up, saying,“ It is necessary to circumcise them and to direct them to keep the Law of Moses.”

For prior to the coming of some men from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he began to withdraw and separate himself, fearing those from the circumcision.The rest of the Jews joined him in hypocrisy, with the result that even Barnabas was carried away by their hypocrisy.But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in the presence of all,“ If you, being a Jew, live like the Gentiles and not like the Jews, how is it that you compel the Gentiles to live like Jews?
