当时，扫罗也赞成杀死司提凡。从那天起，耶路撒冷的教会开始遭到极大的迫害。除了使徒之外，门徒都分散到犹太和撒玛利亚各地。有些虔诚人将司提凡埋葬了，为他大声痛哭。扫罗却在摧毁教会，他挨家挨户搜寻，把男女信徒抓进监里。但那些逃往各地的信徒逃到哪里，就将福音传到哪里。

要到以色列人当中寻找迷失的羊。

二人受圣灵差遣，下到西流基，从那里乘船去塞浦路斯。

有几个凯撒利亚的门徒和我们一起去，并带我们到一个信主已久的塞浦路斯人拿孙家里住宿。

安提阿教会中有几位先知和教师，就是巴拿巴、绰号“黑人”的希缅、古利奈人路求、与分封王希律一同长大的马念以及扫罗。

保罗和巴拿巴毫不畏惧地说：“上帝的道本该先传给你们，你们既然拒绝接受，认为自己不配得永生，我们现在就把这道传给外族人。

找到后，便带他回安提阿。他们在教会待了一年之久，教导了许多人。门徒被称为“基督徒”就是从安提阿开始的。当时，有几位先知从耶路撒冷下到安提阿。

后来，彼得到了安提阿，因他做错了事，我就当面责备他。

他在凯撒利亚登岸后，先上耶路撒冷去问候教会，再下到安提阿。
