此邑之人、賢於帖撒羅尼迦人、以其樂於愛道、日究經文、果如此否、故其中信之者眾、又有希利尼貴婦及男子亦不少、

親愛之兄弟其知之、各宜疾於聽、徐於言、緩於怒、

且我形軀有所試爾、而爾不之嫌、不之棄、乃接我如上帝之使、如基督耶穌、

哲人之心得知識、智者之耳求知識、

故宜去諸污穢惡慝、以謙和承所種之道、即能救爾靈者、

故自謙如此孩提者、於天國為大也、

智者聞之增其學、達者聞之正其趨、

故爾當知上帝之拯救、施於異邦人、

勿自欺、爾中或於斯世自以為智者、則當為愚以成智、

上帝亦感猶大眾、使其一心、遵王與牧伯循耶和華言所命、○

爾既霑主之仁澤、去諸惡慝、詭譎、偽善、媢嫉、毀謗、宜如甫生之嬰、戀純而合宜之乳、使爾由之漸長、以至蒙救、

我誠語汝、凡承上帝國、而不如孩提者斷不得入也、

智者斥責、於順受之耳、如金製耳環、與精金物飾、

今我胡為致死、此大火將滅我、如我再聞我上帝耶和華之聲、則必隕沒、凡有血氣者、誰如我聞維生上帝出自火中之聲、而猶生存者乎、爾其近前、聽我上帝耶和華所言、我上帝耶和華所諭爾者、以告於我、我必聽從遵行、○爾以此言告我、耶和華悉聞之、諭我曰、我聞斯民所語於爾、皆善言也、願其存心畏我、恆守我誡、俾受福祉、爰及子孫、歷世靡暨、

訓迪智人、其智必益、教誨義人、其學必進、寅畏耶和華、為智慧之肇始、識聖者為明哲、

是以我謝上帝不輟、因爾由我受上帝道而納之、非如人道、乃上帝道、是誠上帝道、力行於爾信者之中也、

然多有先者將為後、後者將為先也、
