这里的人比帖撒罗尼迦的人开明。他们满心乐意地接受这福音，天天查考经文，要看这些事是否如此。这样，他们当中有许多人相信了，包括尊贵的希腊妇女，以及不少男人。

我亲爱的弟兄们，你们应当知道：每个人都该快快地听，不急于发言、不急于动怒，

虽然我的身体对你们是个试炼，但你们并没有藐视我，也没有唾弃我，反而接受我如同接受神的使者、如同接受基督耶稣。

有悟性的心，获得知识；智慧人的耳，寻求知识。

因此，你们要脱去一切的污秽和满盈的恶毒，要以温柔的心接受那栽种在你们里面的话语，就是能拯救你们灵魂的话语。

所以，谁像这小孩子自我降卑，谁在天国里就更大。

让智慧人听了，就增添学问，让有悟性的人得到指引，

所以你们应当知道：神的这救恩已经传给了外邦人，他们反倒会听！”

谁都不可自欺！如果你们中间有人自以为在这个世代中是有智慧的，他就应该变为愚拙，好成为有智慧的，

所以，你们要脱去一切恶毒、一切诡诈、伪善、嫉妒，以及一切的诽谤，要像刚出生的婴孩一样，爱慕那纯净的话语之奶，好使你们藉着它成长，以至于救恩，

我确实地告诉你们：无论谁不像小孩子一样接受神的国，就绝不能进去。”

在听从者的耳中，智慧的责备就如金环和黄金饰品。

指教智慧人，他就更有智慧；教导义人，他就增添学问。敬畏耶和华是智慧的开端，认识至圣者就是有悟性；

我们之所以也不住地感谢神，是因为你们接受了从我们所听的神的话语，没有把它看做人的话语，而是把它看做神的话语接受了；这确实是神的话语，而且它也正在你们这些信的人里面做工。

不过许多在前的，将要在后；许多在后的，将要在前。
