About three o’clock one afternoon he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God who came in and said to him,“ Cornelius.”

So Peter invited them in and entertained them as guests. On the next day he got up and set out with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa accompanied him.The following day he entered Caesarea. Now Cornelius was waiting anxiously for them and had called together his relatives and close friends.

As they were still staring into the sky while he was going, suddenly two men in white clothing stood near them

While I was still speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel and presenting my request before the LORD my God concerning his holy mountain–yes, while I was still praying, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen previously in a vision, was approaching me in my state of extreme weariness, around the time of the evening offering.

Everyone who held the words of the God of Israel in awe gathered around me because of the unfaithful acts of the people of the exile. Devastated, I continued to sit there until the evening offering.At the time of the evening offering I got up from my self-abasement, with my tunic and robe torn, and then dropped to my knees and spread my hands to the LORD my God.

When the angel who had spoken to him departed, Cornelius called two of his personal servants and a devout soldier from among those who served him,and when he had explained everything to them, he sent them to Joppa.About noon the next day, while they were on their way and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray.

His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.

On the twenty-fourth day of this same month the Israelites assembled; they were fasting and wearing sackcloth, their heads covered with dust.Those truly of Israelite descent separated from all the foreigners, standing and confessing their sins and the iniquities of their ancestors.For one-fourth of the day they stood in their place and read from the book of the law of the LORD their God, and for another fourth they were confessing their sins and worshiping the LORD their God.

But he said to them,“ Do not be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has been raised! He is not here. Look, there is the place where they laid him.

Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time for prayer, at three o’clock in the afternoon.

While they were perplexed about this, suddenly two men stood beside them in dazzling attire.
