Peter told them,“ You know it is against our laws for a Jewish man to enter a Gentile home like this or to associate with you. But God has shown me that I should no longer think of anyone as impure or unclean.

He said to them:“ You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with or visit a Gentile. But God has shown me that I should not call anyone impure or unclean.

He said to them,“ You know that it is against our law for a Jew to enter a Gentile home. A Jew shouldn’t have any close contact with a Gentile. But God has shown me that I should not say anyone is not pure and‘ clean.’

And he said to them,“ You yourselves know how unlawful it is for a Jew to associate with or to visit anyone of another nation, but God has shown me that I should not call any person common or unclean.

Peter said to them,“ You know it’s forbidden for a Jewish man to associate with or visit a foreigner, but God has shown me that I must not call any person impure or unclean.

And he said to them,“ You yourselves know that it is forbidden for a Jewish man to associate with or visit a foreigner; and yet God has shown me that I am not to call any person unholy or unclean.

Then he said to them,“ You know how unlawful it is for a Jewish man to keep company with or go to one of another nation. But God has shown me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

and he said unto them, Ye yourselves know how it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to join himself or come unto one of another nation; and yet unto me hath God showed that I should not call any man common or unclean:

And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

He said to them,“ You know that it is unlawful for a Jew to associate with or visit a Gentile, yet God has shown me that I should call no person defiled or ritually unclean.

He said to them,“ You yourselves know how it is an unlawful thing for a man who is a Jew to join himself or come to one of another nation, but God has shown me that I shouldn’t call any man unholy or unclean.

The woman was surprised, for Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans. She said to Jesus,“ You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?”

And this is God’s plan: Both Gentiles and Jews who believe the Good News share equally in the riches inherited by God’s children. Both are part of the same body, and both enjoy the promise of blessings because they belong to Christ Jesus.By God’s grace and mighty power, I have been given the privilege of serving him by spreading this Good News.

God knows people’s hearts, and he confirmed that he accepts Gentiles by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as he did to us.He made no distinction between us and them, for he cleansed their hearts through faith.

Jesus’ trial before Caiaphas ended in the early hours of the morning. Then he was taken to the headquarters of the Roman governor. His accusers didn’t go inside because it would defile them, and they wouldn’t be allowed to celebrate the Passover.

Yet they say to each other,‘ Don’t come too close or you will defile me! I am holier than you!’ These people are a stench in my nostrils, an acrid smell that never goes away.

“ But the voice from heaven spoke again:‘ Do not call something unclean if God has made it clean.’

Just then his disciples came back. They were shocked to find him talking to a woman, but none of them had the nerve to ask,“ What do you want with her?” or“ Why are you talking to her?”

When he first arrived, he ate with the Gentile believers, who were not circumcised. But afterward, when some friends of James came, Peter wouldn’t eat with the Gentiles anymore. He was afraid of criticism from these people who insisted on the necessity of circumcision.As a result, other Jewish believers followed Peter’s hypocrisy, and even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy.When I saw that they were not following the truth of the gospel message, I said to Peter in front of all the others,“ Since you, a Jew by birth, have discarded the Jewish laws and are living like a Gentile, why are you now trying to make these Gentiles follow the Jewish traditions?

But when Peter arrived back in Jerusalem, the Jewish believers criticized him.“ You entered the home of Gentiles and even ate with them!” they said.

“ But the Lord said to me,‘ Go, for I will send you far away to the Gentiles!’”The crowd listened until Paul said that word. Then they all began to shout,“ Away with such a fellow! He isn’t fit to live!”

Then Peter replied,“ I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism.In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right.

The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed this prayer:‘ I thank you, God, that I am not like other people— cheaters, sinners, adulterers. I’m certainly not like that tax collector!

“ No, Lord,” Peter declared.“ I have never eaten anything that our Jewish laws have declared impure and unclean.”But the voice spoke again:“ Do not call something unclean if God has made it clean.”
