with respect to Jesus from Nazareth, that God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with him.We are witnesses of all the things he did both in Judea and in Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a tree,but God raised him up on the third day and caused him to be seen,not by all the people, but by us, the witnesses God had already chosen, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.

With great power the apostles were giving testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was on them all.

in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the Spirit of God. So from Jerusalem even as far as Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

Now when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.Suddenly a sound like a violent wind blowing came from heaven and filled the entire house where they were sitting.And tongues spreading out like a fire appeared to them and came to rest on each one of them.All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began to speak in other languages as the Spirit enabled them.

and said to them,“ Thus it stands written that the Christ would suffer and would rise from the dead on the third day,and repentance for the forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.You are witnesses of these things.And look, I am sending you what my Father promised. But stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”

And we are witnesses of these events, and so is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.”

Now Stephen, full of grace and power, was performing great wonders and miraculous signs among the people.

But I ask, have they not heard? Yes, they have: Their voice has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.

Look, I have given you authority to tread on snakes and scorpions and on the full force of the enemy, and nothing will hurt you.

and you also will testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.

Philip went down to the main city of Samaria and began proclaiming the Christ to them.The crowds were paying attention with one mind to what Philip said, as they heard and saw the miraculous signs he was performing.For unclean spirits, crying with loud shrieks, were coming out of many who were possessed, and many paralyzed and lame people were healed.So there was great joy in that city.Now in that city was a man named Simon, who had been practicing magic and amazing the people of Samaria, claiming to be someone great.All the people, from the least to the greatest, paid close attention to him, saying,“ This man is the power of God that is called‘ Great.’”And they paid close attention to him because he had amazed them for a long time with his magic.But when they believed Philip as he was proclaiming the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they began to be baptized, both men and women.Even Simon himself believed, and after he was baptized, he stayed close to Philip constantly, and when he saw the signs and great miracles that were occurring, he was amazed.Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them.These two went down and prayed for them so that they would receive the Holy Spirit.( For the Spirit had not yet come upon any of them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)Then Peter and John placed their hands on the Samaritans, and they received the Holy Spirit.Now Simon, when he saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, offered them money,saying,“ Give me this power too, so that everyone I place my hands on may receive the Holy Spirit.”But Peter said to him,“ May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could acquire God’s gift with money!You have no share or part in this matter because your heart is not right before God!Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that he may perhaps forgive you for the intent of your heart.For I see that you are bitterly envious and in bondage to sin.”But Simon replied,“ You pray to the Lord for me so that nothing of what you have said may happen to me.”So after Peter and John had solemnly testified and spoken the word of the Lord, they started back to Jerusalem, proclaiming the good news to many Samaritan villages as they went.

And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole inhabited earth as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.

For John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

This Jesus God raised up, and we are all witnesses of it.

Therefore he told me,“ These signify the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel:‘ Not by strength and not by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD who rules over all.”

and for many days he appeared to those who had accompanied him from Galilee to Jerusalem. These are now his witnesses to the people.

because you will be his witness to all people of what you have seen and heard.

But I am full of the courage that the LORD’s Spirit gives, and have a strong commitment to justice. This enables me to confront Jacob with its rebellion, and Israel with its sin.

if indeed you remain in the faith, established and firm, without shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard. This gospel has also been preached in all creation under heaven, and I, Paul, have become its servant.

You killed the Originator of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this fact we are witnesses!

The LORD reveals his royal power in the sight of all the nations; the entire earth sees our God deliver.

Then I said,“ LORD, you give me strength and protect me. You are the one I can run to for safety when I am in trouble. Nations from all over the earth will come to you and say,‘ Our ancestors had nothing but false gods– worthless idols that could not help them at all.

I will perform a mighty act among them and then send some of those who remain to the nations– to Tarshish, Pul, Lud( known for its archers), Tubal, Javan, and to the distant coastlands that have not heard about me or seen my splendor. They will tell the nations of my splendor.

And Saul agreed completely with killing him. Now on that day a great persecution began against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were forced to scatter throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria.

The angel replied,“ The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be holy; he will be called the Son of God.

Let all the people of the earth acknowledge the LORD and turn to him! Let all the nations worship you!

beginning from his baptism by John until the day he was taken up from us– one of these must become a witness of his resurrection together with us.”

He remains loyal and faithful to the family of Israel. All the ends of the earth see our God deliver us.

he says,“ Is it too insignificant a task for you to be my servant, to reestablish the tribes of Jacob, and restore the remnant of Israel? I will make you a light to the nations, so you can bring my deliverance to the remote regions of the earth.”

Sing to the LORD a brand new song! Praise him from the horizon of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and everything that lives in it, you coastlands and those who live there!

but they urged him,“ Stay with us, because it is getting toward evening and the day is almost done.” So he went in to stay with them.

And I will grant my two witnesses authority to prophesy for 1,260 days, dressed in sackcloth.( These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth.)If anyone wants to harm them, fire comes out of their mouths and completely consumes their enemies. If anyone wants to harm them, they must be killed this way.These two have the power to close up the sky so that it does not rain during the time they are prophesying. They have power to turn the waters to blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague whenever they want.
