So when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking him,“ Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?”

Then they gathered around him and asked him,“ Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”

Then the apostles gathered around Jesus and asked him a question.“ Lord,” they said,“ are you going to give the kingdom back to Israel now?”

So when they had come together, they asked him,“ Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”

So when they had come together, they asked him,“ Lord, are you restoring the kingdom to Israel at this time?”

So, when they had come together, they began asking Him, saying,“ Lord, is it at this time that You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?”

Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying,“ Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”

They therefore, when they were come together, asked him, saying, Lord, dost thou at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?

So when they had come together, they asked Him,“ Lord, are You restoring the kingdom to Israel at this time?”

When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

So when they had gathered together, they began to ask him,“ Lord, is this the time when you are restoring the kingdom to Israel?”

Therefore when they had come together, they asked him,“ Lord, are you now restoring the kingdom to Israel?”

The crowd was listening to everything Jesus said. And because he was nearing Jerusalem, he told them a story to correct the impression that the Kingdom of God would begin right away.

One day the Pharisees asked Jesus,“ When will the Kingdom of God come?” Jesus replied,“ The Kingdom of God can’t be detected by visible signs.

Then the sovereignty, power, and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be given to the holy people of the Most High. His kingdom will last forever, and all rulers will serve and obey him.”

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!

Later, Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives. His disciples came to him privately and said,“ Tell us, when will all this happen? What sign will signal your return and the end of the world?”

“ For the time is coming,” says the Lord,“ when I will raise up a righteous descendant from King David’s line. He will be a King who rules with wisdom. He will do what is just and right throughout the land.And this will be his name:‘ The Lord Is Our Righteousness.’ In that day Judah will be saved, and Israel will live in safety.

Then I will give you good judges again and wise counselors like you used to have. Then Jerusalem will again be called the Home of Justice and the Faithful City.”

“ In those days and at that time I will raise up a righteous descendant from King David’s line. He will do what is just and right throughout the land.In that day Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will live in safety. And this will be its name:‘ The Lord Is Our Righteousness.’For this is what the Lord says: David will have a descendant sitting on the throne of Israel forever.

Jesus replied,“ Elijah is indeed coming first to get everything ready.

For the Lord will remove his hand of judgment and will disperse the armies of your enemy. And the Lord himself, the King of Israel, will live among you! At last your troubles will be over, and you will never again fear disaster.On that day the announcement to Jerusalem will be,“ Cheer up, Zion! Don’t be afraid!For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”

“ My servant David will be their king, and they will have only one shepherd. They will obey my regulations and be careful to keep my decrees.They will live in the land I gave my servant Jacob, the land where their ancestors lived. They and their children and their grandchildren after them will live there forever, generation after generation. And my servant David will be their prince forever.And I will make a covenant of peace with them, an everlasting covenant. I will give them their land and increase their numbers, and I will put my Temple among them forever.I will make my home among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

The Lord’s voice will roar from Zion and thunder from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth will shake. But the Lord will be a refuge for his people, a strong fortress for the people of Israel.“ Then you will know that I, the Lord your God, live in Zion, my holy mountain. Jerusalem will be holy forever, and foreign armies will never conquer her again.In that day the mountains will drip with sweet wine, and the hills will flow with milk. Water will fill the streambeds of Judah, and a fountain will burst forth from the Lord’s Temple, watering the arid valley of acacias.But Egypt will become a wasteland and Edom will become a wilderness, because they attacked the people of Judah and killed innocent people in their land.“ But Judah will be filled with people forever, and Jerusalem will endure through all generations.I will pardon my people’s crimes, which I have not yet pardoned; and I, the Lord, will make my home in Jerusalem with my people.”

“ What is your request?” he asked. She replied,“ In your Kingdom, please let my two sons sit in places of honor next to you, one on your right and the other on your left.”

I will never abandon the descendants of Jacob or David, my servant, or change the plan that David’s descendants will rule the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Instead, I will restore them to their land and have mercy on them.”

Rejoice, O people of Zion! Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem! Look, your king is coming to you. He is righteous and victorious, yet he is humble, riding on a donkey— riding on a donkey’s colt.

“ But Jerusalem will become a refuge for those who escape; it will be a holy place. And the people of Israel will come back to reclaim their inheritance.The people of Israel will be a raging fire, and Edom a field of dry stubble. The descendants of Joseph will be a flame roaring across the field, devouring everything. There will be no survivors in Edom. I, the Lord, have spoken!“ Then my people living in the Negev will occupy the mountains of Edom. Those living in the foothills of Judah will possess the Philistine plains and take over the fields of Ephraim and Samaria. And the people of Benjamin will occupy the land of Gilead.The exiles of Israel will return to their land and occupy the Phoenician coast as far north as Zarephath. The captives from Jerusalem exiled in the north will return home and resettle the towns of the Negev.Those who have been rescued will go up to Mount Zion in Jerusalem to rule over the mountains of Edom. And the Lord himself will be king!”

But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, are only a small village among all the people of Judah. Yet a ruler of Israel, whose origins are in the distant past, will come from you on my behalf.

The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from his descendants, until the coming of the one to whom it belongs, the one whom all nations will honor.

And just as my Father has granted me a Kingdom, I now grant you the right

Jesus responded,“ Elijah is indeed coming first to get everything ready. Yet why do the Scriptures say that the Son of Man must suffer greatly and be treated with utter contempt?

Peter asked Jesus,“ What about him, Lord?”

“ In that day I will restore the fallen house of David. I will repair its damaged walls. From the ruins I will rebuild it and restore its former glory.

This shows that Israel will go a long time without a king or prince, and without sacrifices, sacred pillars, priests, or even idols!
