On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command:“ Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about.

One day Jesus was eating with them. He gave them a command.“ Do not leave Jerusalem,” he said.“ Wait for the gift my Father promised. You have heard me talk about it.

And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said,“ you heard from me;

And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father,[ even] the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

( But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet[ given]; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:Of sin, because they believe not on me;Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear,[ that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew[ it] unto you.All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew[ it] unto you.

But the Comforter,[ which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come[ again] unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.

And when he had said this, he breathed on[ them], and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall[ your] heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God,[ even] to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.

And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.And he took[ it], and did eat before them.
