On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command:“ Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about.

One day Jesus was eating with them. He gave them a command.“ Do not leave Jerusalem,” he said.“ Wait for the gift my Father promised. You have heard me talk about it.

And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said,“ you heard from me;

Once when he was eating with them, he commanded them,“ Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift he promised, as I told you before.

While He was together with them, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for the Father’s promise.“ This,” He said,“ is what you heard from Me;

And, being assembled together with[ them], commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which,[ saith he], ye have heard of me.

While he was with them, he declared,“ Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait there for what my Father promised, which you heard about from me.

識之哉！予將以吾父所許者、遣發於爾矣。惟爾曹宜暫留京中、靜候自天賦與之德能。』

予當求父另遣保慰恩師、永與爾偕；

予當自聖父遣發保慰恩師於爾、保慰恩師非他、即真道之神發自聖父者是。彼至必為予作證、

迨天主以右手舉而升之、渠乃受所許之聖神、遂以此神傾注於吾人、是即爾曹所親睹親聞者也。

此言乃指信奉之者、將領受聖神；時聖神尚未降臨、以耶穌猶未榮昇故。

實以相告、予之去、爾之益也。蓋予不去、則保慰恩師不至。予去當遣之來。彼既來、必有以令世知罪、知義、知判。知罪者、以若輩不予信也；知義者、以予歸父而爾不復睹予也；知判者、以斯世之君已受判也。尚有多端、欲與爾言、惟此時爾尚不堪受之。一俟真諦之神來臨、必能循循誘爾洞達微妙。彼所言亦非由己；有所聞、乃言之；當示爾以將臨之事、且必歸榮於予也。何則、彼將受之於予、而授之於爾也。蓋父之所有、亦即予之所有、故曰：『彼將受於予而授於爾。』

惟父將以予名義、遣發保慰恩師、彼必教爾以一切、且使爾追憶領會予之所言也。予以平安遺爾、予以己之平安施於爾等、而予之為施、亦有異乎世之所為矣。毋事忐忑、毋事疑懼；爾已聞予言之、予去當復來、爾若真愛予者、則宜因予歸父而喜、以父實大於予也。

其時既至、聖神必示爾以所當言。

言訖噓之曰：『領受聖神！

蓋言者非爾、實爾父之神、藉爾而言也。

夫以爾等罪人、尚知以嘉惠賜爾兒女；況在爾之天父、有不更以聖神賦予求之者乎！』

不在廣眾之前、惟於天主所預定之見證、即其復活後飲食與共之吾曹是已。

諸徒驚喜交集、猶恐其非真也。耶穌曰：『爾有食乎？』徒乃授以炙魚一片、蜜窩一方；遂受而當眾食之。
