看哪！我要将我父所应许的差派到你们那里。不过你们要留在城里，直到领受了从上面来的能力。”

“我将从父那里派遣慰助者来，他就是从父而来的真理的灵。他来的时候，将为我做见证。

他被高举在神的右边，从父领受了所应许的圣灵，就将圣灵倾注了下来。这正是你们现在所看见所听见的。

耶稣这话是指着信他的人所要领受的圣灵而说的。当时，圣灵还没有临到，因为耶稣还没有得荣耀。

但我把真相告诉你们：我离去对你们是有益处的，因为我如果不去，慰助者就不会到你们这里来；如果我去了，我就会派遣他到你们这里来。他来了，要在关于罪、关于义、关于审判的事上，使世界知罪。关于罪，是因为世界不信我；关于义，是因为我到父那里去，而你们不再看到我了；关于审判，是因为世界的那掌权者已经被定罪了。“我还有很多事要告诉你们，可是你们现在担当不了，不过当那位真理的灵来了，他就会引导你们进入一切真理。那时，他不会凭着自己说话，只把所听到的说出来，并且把那些就要来的事传讲给你们。他将荣耀我，因为他将从我领受，并传讲给你们。父所拥有的一切，都是我的。所以我说，圣灵将从我领受，并传讲给你们。

但那位慰助者，就是父以我的名所要派遣的圣灵，将要把一切的事教导你们，并且让你们想起我对你们说过的一切。“我把平安留给你们，我把我的平安赐给你们。我给你们的，不像世界所给的。你们心里不要愁烦，也不要胆怯。你们听过我对你们说：‘我去了，还要回到你们这里来。’如果你们爱我，就会为了我到父那里去而感到欢喜。这是因为父比我更大。

因为就在那时候，圣灵会教导你们该说的话。”

说了这话，耶稣向他们吹了一口气，说：“领受圣灵吧！

因为说话的不是你们自己，而是你们父的灵在你们里面说话。

所以，如果你们做为恶人也知道把好的东西给自己的儿女，更何况天上的父要赐圣灵给求他的人呢！”

不是显现给全体民众，而是显现给神预先选定的见证人，就是我们这些在他从死人中复活以后，与他一起吃、一起喝的人。

他们又惊又喜，还不敢相信的时候，耶稣对他们说：“你们这里有什么吃的吗？”他们递给他一片烤鱼，他拿过来，当着他们的面吃了。
