On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command:“ Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about.

One day Jesus was eating with them. He gave them a command.“ Do not leave Jerusalem,” he said.“ Wait for the gift my Father promised. You have heard me talk about it.

And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said,“ you heard from me;

Once when he was eating with them, he commanded them,“ Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift he promised, as I told you before.

And, being assembled together with[ them], commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which,[ saith he], ye have heard of me.

While he was with them, he declared,“ Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait there for what my Father promised, which you heard about from me.

Being assembled together with them, he commanded them,“ Don’t depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which you heard from me.

I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” (niv)

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— (niv)

“ When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father— the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father— he will testify about me. (niv)

Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. (niv)

By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified. (niv)

But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment:about sin, because people do not believe in me;about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer;and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.“ I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear.But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.” (niv)

But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.“ You heard me say,‘ I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. (niv)

for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.” (niv)

And with that he breathed on them and said,“ Receive the Holy Spirit. (niv)

for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. (niv)

If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” (niv)

He was not seen by all the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen— by us who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. (niv)

And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them,“ Do you have anything here to eat?”They gave him a piece of broiled fish,and he took it and ate it in their presence. (niv)
