這時候，那出賣耶穌的猶大看見耶穌被定了死罪，就後悔，去把三十個銀錢退還給祭司長們和長老們，說：「我出賣了無辜人的血，我有罪了。」但是他們說：「這與我們有什麼關係？你自己看著辦吧！」猶大把銀錢丟在聖所裡就退了出來，去上吊自殺了。祭司長們撿起銀錢，說：「這既然是血錢，不可以放到聖殿奉獻裡。」他們商議之後，就用那錢買了陶匠的一塊地，做為外國人的墳地。因此，那塊地就被稱為「血田」，直到今天。這就應驗了藉著先知耶利米所說的話：「他們拿了那三十個銀錢，就是那人被定的價錢，是以色列子民所定的；他們用這錢買了陶匠的那塊地，正如主所指示我的。」

神哪，你必使惡人下到滅亡的深坑裡！那些殺人流血、行詭詐的人，必活不過半生；至於我，我要依靠你。

他按照每個人自己的能力，一個給了五千兩銀子，一個給了兩千兩，一個給了一千兩，然後就出外旅行。

他們離開了正道就被迷惑，隨從了比珥的兒子巴蘭的路——這巴蘭喜愛不義的酬報，卻為自己的過犯受了責備：一頭不能說話的驢，竟用人的聲音說出話來，攔阻了這先知的狂妄。

願死亡突然毀滅他們，願他們活活下到陰間！因為惡事在他們的住處，就在他們當中。

那時候，十二使徒中的一個，就是那稱為加略人猶大的，到祭司長們那裡去，說：「如果我把他交給你們，你們願意給我什麼？」他們就約定給他三十個銀錢。
