这时候，那出卖耶稣的犹大看见耶稣被定了死罪，就后悔，去把三十个银钱退还给祭司长们和长老们，说：“我出卖了无辜人的血，我有罪了。”但是他们说：“这与我们有什么关系？你自己看着办吧！”犹大把银钱丢在圣所里就退了出来，去上吊自杀了。祭司长们捡起银钱，说：“这既然是血钱，不可以放到圣殿奉献里。”他们商议之后，就用那钱买了陶匠的一块地，做为外国人的坟地。因此，那块地就被称为“血田”，直到今天。这就应验了藉着先知耶利米所说的话：“他们拿了那三十个银钱，就是那人被定的价钱，是以色列子民所定的；他们用这钱买了陶匠的那块地，正如主所指示我的。”

神哪，你必使恶人下到灭亡的深坑里！那些杀人流血、行诡诈的人，必活不过半生；至于我，我要依靠你。

他按照每个人自己的能力，一个给了五千两银子，一个给了两千两，一个给了一千两，然后就出外旅行。

他们离开了正道就被迷惑，随从了比珥的儿子巴兰的路——这巴兰喜爱不义的酬报，却为自己的过犯受了责备：一头不能说话的驴，竟用人的声音说出话来，拦阻了这先知的狂妄。

愿死亡突然毁灭他们，愿他们活活下到阴间！因为恶事在他们的住处，就在他们当中。

那时候，十二使徒中的一个，就是那称为加略人犹大的，到祭司长们那里去，说：“如果我把他交给你们，你们愿意给我什么？”他们就约定给他三十个银钱。
