Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not become discouraged,

Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving;

“ Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.”

When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.

Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart,

While He was still speaking to the crowds, behold, His mother and brothers were standing outside, seeking to speak to Him.

And when they heard this, they raised their voices to God with one mind and said,“ Lord, it is You who made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and everything that is in them,who by the Holy Spirit, through the mouth of our father David Your servant, said,‘ Why were the nations insolent, And the peoples plotting in vain?The kings of the earth took their stand, And the rulers were gathered together Against the Lord and against His Christ.’For truly in this city there were gathered together against Your holy servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel,to do whatever Your hand and purpose predestined to occur.And now, Lord, look at their threats, and grant it to Your bond servants to speak Your word with all confidence,while You extend Your hand to heal, and signs and wonders take place through the name of Your holy servant Jesus.”And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness.

And all His acquaintances and the women who accompanied Him from Galilee were standing at a distance, seeing these things.

and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and sicknesses: Mary who was called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who were contributing to their support out of their private means.

When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might come and anoint Him.

Now the women who had come with Him from Galilee followed, and they saw the tomb and how His body was laid.

And many women were there watching from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee while caring for Him.

Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is His mother not called Mary, and His brothers, James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas?And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this man acquire all these things?”

Now beside the cross of Jesus stood His mother, His mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.So when Jesus saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He* said to His mother,“ Woman, behold, your son!”

Now there were also some women watching from a distance, among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the Less and Joses, and Salome.
