Philip said,“ Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.”Jesus replied,“ Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you?

Meanwhile, Peter traveled from place to place, and he came down to visit the believers in the town of Lydda.There he met a man named Aeneas, who had been paralyzed and bedridden for eight years.Peter said to him,“ Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you! Get up, and roll up your sleeping mat!” And he was healed instantly.Then the whole population of Lydda and Sharon saw Aeneas walking around, and they turned to the Lord.There was a believer in Joppa named Tabitha( which in Greek is Dorcas). She was always doing kind things for others and helping the poor.About this time she became ill and died. Her body was washed for burial and laid in an upstairs room.But the believers had heard that Peter was nearby at Lydda, so they sent two men to beg him,“ Please come as soon as possible!”So Peter returned with them; and as soon as he arrived, they took him to the upstairs room. The room was filled with widows who were weeping and showing him the coats and other clothes Dorcas had made for them.But Peter asked them all to leave the room; then he knelt and prayed. Turning to the body he said,“ Get up, Tabitha.” And she opened her eyes! When she saw Peter, she sat up!He gave her his hand and helped her up. Then he called in the widows and all the believers, and he presented her to them alive.The news spread through the whole town, and many believed in the Lord.And Peter stayed a long time in Joppa, living with Simon, a tanner of hides.

This letter is from Jude, a slave of Jesus Christ and a brother of James. I am writing to all who have been called by God the Father, who loves you and keeps you safe in the care of Jesus Christ.

The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus.

As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at his tax collector’s booth.“ Follow me and be my disciple,” Jesus said to him. So Matthew got up and followed him.

After breakfast Jesus asked Simon Peter,“ Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”“ Yes, Lord,” Peter replied,“ you know I love you.”“ Then feed my lambs,” Jesus told him.Jesus repeated the question:“ Simon son of John, do you love me?”“ Yes, Lord,” Peter said,“ you know I love you.”“ Then take care of my sheep,” Jesus said.A third time he asked him,“ Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt that Jesus asked the question a third time. He said,“ Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you.” Jesus said,“ Then feed my sheep.“ I tell you the truth, when you were young, you were able to do as you liked; you dressed yourself and went wherever you wanted to go. But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and others will dress you and take you where you don’t want to go.”Jesus said this to let him know by what kind of death he would glorify God. Then Jesus told him,“ Follow me.”Peter turned around and saw behind them the disciple Jesus loved— the one who had leaned over to Jesus during supper and asked,“ Lord, who will betray you?”Peter asked Jesus,“ What about him, Lord?”Jesus replied,“ If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? As for you, follow me.”So the rumor spread among the community of believers that this disciple wouldn’t die. But that isn’t what Jesus said at all. He only said,“ If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?”This disciple is the one who testifies to these events and has recorded them here. And we know that his account of these things is accurate.

Jesus soon saw a huge crowd of people coming to look for him. Turning to Philip, he asked,“ Where can we buy bread to feed all these people?”He was testing Philip, for he already knew what he was going to do.Philip replied,“ Even if we worked for months, we wouldn’t have enough money to feed them!”

He motioned for them to quiet down and told them how the Lord had led him out of prison.“ Tell James and the other brothers what happened,” he said. And then he went to another place.

Later, as Jesus left the town, he saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at his tax collector’s booth.“ Follow me and be my disciple,” Jesus said to him.So Levi got up, left everything, and followed him.Later, Levi held a banquet in his home with Jesus as the guest of honor. Many of Levi’s fellow tax collectors and other guests also ate with them.

Six days later Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up a high mountain to be alone. As the men watched, Jesus’ appearance was transformed,

Then Peter stepped forward with the eleven other apostles and shouted to the crowd,“ Listen carefully, all of you, fellow Jews and residents of Jerusalem! Make no mistake about this.

Several of the disciples were there— Simon Peter, Thomas( nicknamed the Twin), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples.

When they had finished, James stood and said,“ Brothers, listen to me.

The disciple Jesus loved was sitting next to Jesus at the table.Simon Peter motioned to him to ask,“ Who’s he talking about?”So that disciple leaned over to Jesus and asked,“ Lord, who is it?”

At the meeting, after a long discussion, Peter stood and addressed them as follows:“ Brothers, you all know that God chose me from among you some time ago to preach to the Gentiles so that they could hear the Good News and believe.God knows people’s hearts, and he confirmed that he accepts Gentiles by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as he did to us.He made no distinction between us and them, for he cleansed their hearts through faith.So why are you now challenging God by burdening the Gentile believers with a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors were able to bear?We believe that we are all saved the same way, by the undeserved grace of the Lord Jesus.”

The woman asked Peter,“ You’re not one of that man’s disciples, are you?”“ No,” he said,“ I am not.”

The only other apostle I met at that time was James, the Lord’s brother.

Then Jesus stopped the crowd and wouldn’t let anyone go with him except Peter, James, and John( the brother of James).

This is a revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants the events that must soon take place. He sent an angel to present this revelation to his servant John,who faithfully reported everything he saw. This is his report of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.God blesses the one who reads the words of this prophecy to the church, and he blesses all who listen to its message and obey what it says, for the time is near.

Thomas, nicknamed the Twin, said to his fellow disciples,“ Let’s go, too— and die with Jesus.”

One day as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers— Simon, also called Peter, and Andrew— throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living.Jesus called out to them,“ Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!”And they left their nets at once and followed him.A little farther up the shore he saw two other brothers, James and John, sitting in a boat with their father, Zebedee, repairing their nets. And he called them to come, too.They immediately followed him, leaving the boat and their father behind.

At daybreak he called together all of his disciples and chose twelve of them to be apostles. Here are their names:Simon( whom he named Peter), Andrew( Peter’s brother), James, John, Philip, Bartholomew,Matthew, Thomas, James( son of Alphaeus), Simon( who was called the zealot),Judas( son of James), Judas Iscariot( who later betrayed him).

Peter and John went to the Temple one afternoon to take part in the three o’clock prayer service.As they approached the Temple, a man lame from birth was being carried in. Each day he was put beside the Temple gate, the one called the Beautiful Gate, so he could beg from the people going into the Temple.When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for some money.Peter and John looked at him intently, and Peter said,“ Look at us!”The lame man looked at them eagerly, expecting some money.But Peter said,“ I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!”Then Peter took the lame man by the right hand and helped him up. And as he did, the man’s feet and ankles were instantly healed and strengthened.He jumped up, stood on his feet, and began to walk! Then, walking, leaping, and praising God, he went into the Temple with them.All the people saw him walking and heard him praising God.When they realized he was the lame beggar they had seen so often at the Beautiful Gate, they were absolutely astounded!

Eight days later the disciples were together again, and this time Thomas was with them. The doors were locked; but suddenly, as before, Jesus was standing among them.“ Peace be with you,” he said.Then he said to Thomas,“ Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe!”“ My Lord and my God!” Thomas exclaimed.Then Jesus told him,“ You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.”

But Peter and John replied,“ Do you think God wants us to obey you rather than him?

The next day as Cornelius’s messengers were nearing the town, Peter went up on the flat roof to pray. It was about noon,and he was hungry. But while a meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance.He saw the sky open, and something like a large sheet was let down by its four corners.In the sheet were all sorts of animals, reptiles, and birds.Then a voice said to him,“ Get up, Peter; kill and eat them.”“ No, Lord,” Peter declared.“ I have never eaten anything that our Jewish laws have declared impure and unclean.”But the voice spoke again:“ Do not call something unclean if God has made it clean.”The same vision was repeated three times. Then the sheet was suddenly pulled up to heaven.Peter was very perplexed. What could the vision mean? Just then the men sent by Cornelius found Simon’s house. Standing outside the gate,they asked if a man named Simon Peter was staying there.Meanwhile, as Peter was puzzling over the vision, the Holy Spirit said to him,“ Three men have come looking for you.Get up, go downstairs, and go with them without hesitation. Don’t worry, for I have sent them.”So Peter went down and said,“ I’m the man you are looking for. Why have you come?”They said,“ We were sent by Cornelius, a Roman officer. He is a devout and God fearing man, well respected by all the Jews. A holy angel instructed him to summon you to his house so that he can hear your message.”So Peter invited the men to stay for the night. The next day he went with them, accompanied by some of the brothers from Joppa.They arrived in Caesarea the following day. Cornelius was waiting for them and had called together his relatives and close friends.As Peter entered his home, Cornelius fell at his feet and worshiped him.But Peter pulled him up and said,“ Stand up! I’m a human being just like you!”So they talked together and went inside, where many others were assembled.Peter told them,“ You know it is against our laws for a Jewish man to enter a Gentile home like this or to associate with you. But God has shown me that I should no longer think of anyone as impure or unclean.So I came without objection as soon as I was sent for. Now tell me why you sent for me.”Cornelius replied,“ Four days ago I was praying in my house about this same time, three o’clock in the afternoon. Suddenly, a man in dazzling clothes was standing in front of me.He told me,‘ Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your gifts to the poor have been noticed by God!Now send messengers to Joppa, and summon a man named Simon Peter. He is staying in the home of Simon, a tanner who lives near the seashore.’So I sent for you at once, and it was good of you to come. Now we are all here, waiting before God to hear the message the Lord has given you.”

Meanwhile, as Simon Peter was standing by the fire warming himself, they asked him again,“ You’re not one of his disciples, are you?” He denied it, saying,“ No, I am not.”But one of the household slaves of the high priest, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, asked,“ Didn’t I see you out there in the olive grove with Jesus?”Again Peter denied it. And immediately a rooster crowed.

He had the apostle James( John’s brother) killed with a sword.When Herod saw how much this pleased the Jewish people, he also arrested Peter.( This took place during the Passover celebration.)

When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that the people of Samaria had accepted God’s message, they sent Peter and John there.As soon as they arrived, they prayed for these new believers to receive the Holy Spirit.The Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them, for they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.Then Peter and John laid their hands upon these believers, and they received the Holy Spirit.When Simon saw that the Spirit was given when the apostles laid their hands on people, he offered them money to buy this power.“ Let me have this power, too,” he exclaimed,“ so that when I lay my hands on people, they will receive the Holy Spirit!”But Peter replied,“ May your money be destroyed with you for thinking God’s gift can be bought!You can have no part in this, for your heart is not right with God.Repent of your wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive your evil thoughts,for I can see that you are full of bitter jealousy and are held captive by sin.”“ Pray to the Lord for me,” Simon exclaimed,“ that these terrible things you’ve said won’t happen to me!”After testifying and preaching the word of the Lord in Samaria, Peter and John returned to Jerusalem. And they stopped in many Samaritan villages along the way to preach the Good News.

In fact, James, Peter, and John, who were known as pillars of the church, recognized the gift God had given me, and they accepted Barnabas and me as their co workers. They encouraged us to keep preaching to the Gentiles, while they continued their work with the Jews.

paid a visit to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee. They said,“ Sir, we want to meet Jesus.”Philip told Andrew about it, and they went together to ask Jesus.

He took Peter, James, and John with him, and he became deeply troubled and distressed.

Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of these men who heard what John said and then followed Jesus.Andrew went to find his brother, Simon, and told him,“ We have found the Messiah”( which means“ Christ”).Then Andrew brought Simon to meet Jesus. Looking intently at Simon, Jesus said,“ Your name is Simon, son of John— but you will be called Cephas”( which means“ Peter”).The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him,“ Come, follow me.”Philip was from Bethsaida, Andrew and Peter’s hometown.Philip went to look for Nathanael and told him,“ We have found the very person Moses and the prophets wrote about! His name is Jesus, the son of Joseph from Nazareth.”“ Nazareth!” exclaimed Nathanael.“ Can anything good come from Nazareth?”“ Come and see for yourself,” Philip replied.
