Get up and make your bed,” and immediately he got up.So all who lived in Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord.In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha( which is translated Dorcas). She was always doing good works and acts of charity.About that time she became sick and died. After washing her, they placed her in a room upstairs.Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples heard that Peter was there and sent two men to him who urged him,“ Don’t delay in coming with us.”Peter got up and went with them. When he arrived, they led him to the room upstairs. And all the widows approached him, weeping and showing him the robes and clothes that Dorcas had made while she was with them.Peter sent them all out of the room. He knelt down, prayed, and turning toward the body said,“ Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes, saw Peter, and sat up.He gave her his hand and helped her stand up. He called the saints and widows and presented her alive.This became known throughout Joppa, and many believed in the Lord.Peter stayed for some time in Joppa with Simon, a leather tanner.

Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James: To those who are the called, loved by God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ.

When they observed the boldness of Peter and John and realized that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed and recognized that they had been with Jesus.

As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office, and he said to him,“ Follow me,” and he got up and followed him.

When they had eaten breakfast, Jesus asked Simon Peter,“ Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?”“ Yes, Lord,” he said to him,“ you know that I love you.”“ Feed my lambs,” he told him.A second time he asked him,“ Simon, son of John, do you love me?”“ Yes, Lord,” he said to him,“ you know that I love you.”“ Shepherd my sheep,” he told him.He asked him the third time,“ Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved that he asked him the third time,“ Do you love me?” He said,“ Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.”“ Feed my sheep,” Jesus said.“ Truly I tell you, when you were younger, you would tie your belt and walk wherever you wanted. But when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands and someone else will tie you and carry you where you don’t want to go.”He said this to indicate by what kind of death Peter would glorify God. After saying this, he told him,“ Follow me.”So Peter turned around and saw the disciple Jesus loved following them, the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and asked,“ Lord, who is the one that’s going to betray you?”When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus,“ Lord, what about him?”“ If I want him to remain until I come,” Jesus answered,“ what is that to you? As for you, follow me.”So this rumor spread to the brothers and sisters that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not tell him that he would not die, but,“ If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you?”This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true.

So when Jesus looked up and noticed a huge crowd coming toward him, he asked Philip,“ Where will we buy bread so that these people can eat?”He asked this to test him, for he himself knew what he was going to do.Philip answered him,“ Two hundred denarii worth of bread wouldn’t be enough for each of them to have a little.”

Motioning to them with his hand to be silent, he described to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison.“ Tell these things to James and the brothers,” he said, and he left and went to another place.

After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at the tax office, and he said to him,“ Follow me.”So, leaving everything behind, he got up and began to follow him.Then Levi hosted a grand banquet for him at his house. Now there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others who were reclining at the table with them.

After six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John and led them up a high mountain by themselves to be alone. He was transfigured in front of them,

Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice, and proclaimed to them,“ Fellow Jews and all you residents of Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and pay attention to my words.

Simon Peter, Thomas( called“ Twin”), Nathanael from Cana of Galilee, Zebedee’s sons, and two others of his disciples were together.

After they stopped speaking, James responded,“ Brothers, listen to me.

One of his disciples, the one Jesus loved, was reclining close beside Jesus.Simon Peter motioned to him to find out who it was he was talking about.So he leaned back against Jesus and asked him,“ Lord, who is it?”

After there had been much debate, Peter stood up and said to them,“ Brothers, you are aware that in the early days God made a choice among you, that by my mouth the Gentiles would hear the gospel message and believe.And God, who knows the heart, bore witness to them by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as he also did to us.He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith.Now then, why are you testing God by putting a yoke on the disciples’ necks that neither our ancestors nor we have been able to bear?On the contrary, we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus in the same way they are.”

Then the servant girl who was the doorkeeper said to Peter,“ You aren’t one of this man’s disciples too, are you?”“ I am not,” he said.

But I didn’t see any of the other apostles except James, the Lord’s brother.

He did not let anyone accompany him except Peter, James, and John, James’s brother.

The revelation of Jesus Christ that God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,who testified to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, whatever he saw.Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear the words of this prophecy and keep what is written in it, because the time is near.

Then Thomas( called“ Twin”) said to his fellow disciples,“ Let’s go too so that we may die with him.”

As he was walking along the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon( who is called Peter), and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea— for they were fishermen.“ Follow me,” he told them,“ and I will make you fish for people.”Immediately they left their nets and followed him.Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They were in a boat with Zebedee their father, preparing their nets, and he called them.Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.

When daylight came, he summoned his disciples, and he chose twelve of them, whom he also named apostles:Simon, whom he also named Peter, and Andrew his brother; James and John; Philip and Bartholomew;Matthew and Thomas; James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon called the Zealot;Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.

Now Peter and John were going up to the temple for the time of prayer at three in the afternoon.A man who was lame from birth was being carried there. He was placed each day at the temple gate called Beautiful, so that he could beg from those entering the temple.When he saw Peter and John about to enter the temple, he asked for money.Peter, along with John, looked straight at him and said,“ Look at us.”So he turned to them, expecting to get something from them.But Peter said,“ I don’t have silver or gold, but what I do have, I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk!”Then, taking him by the right hand he raised him up, and at once his feet and ankles became strong.So he jumped up and started to walk, and he entered the temple with them— walking, leaping, and praising God.All the people saw him walking and praising God,and they recognized that he was the one who used to sit and beg at the Beautiful Gate of the temple. So they were filled with awe and astonishment at what had happened to him.

A week later his disciples were indoors again, and Thomas was with them. Even though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said,“ Peace be with you.”Then he said to Thomas,“ Put your finger here and look at my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Don’t be faithless, but believe.”Thomas responded to him,“ My Lord and my God!”Jesus said,“ Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe.”

Peter and John answered them,“ Whether it’s right in the sight of God for us to listen to you rather than to God, you decide;

The next day, as they were traveling and nearing the city, Peter went up to pray on the roof about noon.He became hungry and wanted to eat, but while they were preparing something, he fell into a trance.He saw heaven opened and an object that resembled a large sheet coming down, being lowered by its four corners to the earth.In it were all the four-footed animals and reptiles of the earth, and the birds of the sky.A voice said to him,“ Get up, Peter; kill and eat.”“ No, Lord!” Peter said.“ For I have never eaten anything impure and ritually unclean.”Again, a second time, the voice said to him,“ What God has made clean, do not call impure.”This happened three times, and suddenly the object was taken up into heaven.While Peter was deeply perplexed about what the vision he had seen might mean, right away the men who had been sent by Cornelius, having asked directions to Simon’s house, stood at the gate.They called out, asking if Simon, who was also named Peter, was lodging there.While Peter was thinking about the vision, the Spirit told him,“ Three men are here looking for you.Get up, go downstairs, and go with them with no doubts at all, because I have sent them.”Then Peter went down to the men and said,“ Here I am, the one you’re looking for. What is the reason you’re here?”They said,“ Cornelius, a centurion, an upright and God-fearing man, who has a good reputation with the whole Jewish nation, was divinely directed by a holy angel to call you to his house and to hear a message from you.”Peter then invited them in and gave them lodging. The next day he got up and set out with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa went with him.The following day he entered Caesarea. Now Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his relatives and close friends.When Peter entered, Cornelius met him, fell at his feet, and worshiped him.But Peter lifted him up and said,“ Stand up. I myself am also a man.”While talking with him, he went in and found a large gathering of people.Peter said to them,“ You know it’s forbidden for a Jewish man to associate with or visit a foreigner, but God has shown me that I must not call any person impure or unclean.That’s why I came without any objection when I was sent for. So may I ask why you sent for me?”Cornelius replied,“ Four days ago at this hour, at three in the afternoon, I was praying in my house. Just then a man in dazzling clothing stood before meand said,‘ Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your acts of charity have been remembered in God’s sight.Therefore send someone to Joppa and invite Simon here, who is also named Peter. He is lodging in Simon the tanner’s house by the sea.’So I immediately sent for you, and it was good of you to come. So now we are all in the presence of God to hear everything you have been commanded by the Lord.”

Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. They said to him,“ You aren’t one of his disciples too, are you?” He denied it and said,“ I am not.”One of the high priest’s servants, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, said,“ Didn’t I see you with him in the garden?”Peter denied it again. Immediately a rooster crowed.

and he executed James, John’s brother, with the sword.When he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter too, during the Festival of Unleavened Bread.

When the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them.After they went down there, they prayed for them so that the Samaritans might receive the Holy Spirit because he had not yet come down on any of them.( They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)Then Peter and John laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.When Simon saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money,saying,“ Give me this power also so that anyone I lay hands on may receive the Holy Spirit.”But Peter told him,“ May your silver be destroyed with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money!You have no part or share in this matter, because your heart is not right before God.Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, if possible, your heart’s intent may be forgiven.For I see you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by wickedness.”“ Pray to the Lord for me,” Simon replied,“ so that nothing you have said may happen to me.”So, after they had testified and spoken the word of the Lord, they traveled back to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.

When James, Cephas, and John— those recognized as pillars— acknowledged the grace that had been given to me, they gave the right hand of fellowship to me and Barnabas, agreeing that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.

So they came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and requested of him,“ Sir, we want to see Jesus.”Philip went and told Andrew; then Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus.

He took Peter, James, and John with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled.

Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard John and followed him.He first found his own brother Simon and told him,“ We have found the Messiah”( which is translated“ the Christ”),and he brought Simon to Jesus. When Jesus saw him, he said,“ You are Simon, son of John. You will be called Cephas”( which is translated“ Peter”).The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. He found Philip and told him,“ Follow me.”Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the hometown of Andrew and Peter.Philip found Nathanael and told him,“ We have found the one Moses wrote about in the law( and so did the prophets): Jesus the son of Joseph, from Nazareth.”“ Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Nathanael asked him.“ Come and see,” Philip answered.
