Demas has deserted me because he loves the things of this life and has gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to Galatia, and Titus has gone to Dalmatia.

As you know, everyone from the province of Asia has deserted me— even Phygelus and Hermogenes.

Next Paul and Silas traveled through the area of Phrygia and Galatia, because the Holy Spirit had prevented them from preaching the word in the province of Asia at that time.

The first time I was brought before the judge, no one came with me. Everyone abandoned me. May it not be counted against them.

Paul and Silas then traveled through the towns of Amphipolis and Apollonia and came to Thessalonica, where there was a Jewish synagogue.

“ If you want to be my disciple, you must, by comparison, hate everyone else— your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters— yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple.And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple.

So do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke, my co workers.

For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith.And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.

I am writing to Titus, my true son in the faith that we share. May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior give you grace and peace.

But God, who encourages those who are discouraged, encouraged us by the arrival of Titus.

Luke, the beloved doctor, sends his greetings, and so does Demas.Please give my greetings to our brothers and sisters at Laodicea, and to Nympha and the church that meets in her house.

But I had no peace of mind because my dear brother Titus hadn’t yet arrived with a report from you. So I said good bye and went on to Macedonia to find him.

All the others care only for themselves and not for what matters to Jesus Christ.

For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.

But thank God! He has given Titus the same enthusiasm for you that I have.

And the people of Berea were more open minded than those in Thessalonica, and they listened eagerly to Paul’s message. They searched the Scriptures day after day to see if Paul and Silas were teaching the truth.

So we have urged Titus, who encouraged your giving in the first place, to return to you and encourage you to finish this ministry of giving.

But this is all happening to fulfill the words of the prophets as recorded in the Scriptures.” At that point, all the disciples deserted him and fled.

Remember what happened to Lot’s wife!

So you cannot become my disciple without giving up everything you own.

Paul and his companions then left Paphos by ship for Pamphylia, landing at the port town of Perga. There John Mark left them and returned to Jerusalem.

But Paul disagreed strongly, since John Mark had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not continued with them in their work.

“ No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.”

Then fourteen years later I went back to Jerusalem again, this time with Barnabas; and Titus came along, too.I went there because God revealed to me that I should go. While I was there I met privately with those considered to be leaders of the church and shared with them the message I had been preaching to the Gentiles. I wanted to make sure that we were in agreement, for fear that all my efforts had been wasted and I was running the race for nothing.And they supported me and did not even demand that my companion Titus be circumcised, though he was a Gentile.

They have wandered off the right road and followed the footsteps of Balaam son of Beor, who loved to earn money by doing wrong.

But when some Jews in Thessalonica learned that Paul was preaching the word of God in Berea, they went there and stirred up trouble.

Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.

Another said,“ Yes, Lord, I will follow you, but first let me say good bye to my family.”But Jesus told him,“ Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God.”

All the brothers and sisters here join me in sending this letter to the churches of Galatia.

After spending some time in Antioch, Paul went back through Galatia and Phrygia, visiting and strengthening all the believers.
