The arrival of the lawless one will be by Satan’s working with all kinds of miracles and signs and false wonders,and with every kind of evil deception directed against those who are perishing, because they found no place in their hearts for the truth so as to be saved.Consequently God sends on them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false.

Put yourselves to the test to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize regarding yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you– unless, indeed, you fail the test!And I hope that you will realize that we have not failed the test!

But you do have this going for you: You hate what the Nicolaitans practice– practices I also hate.

And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what should not be done.

For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.Therefore it is not surprising his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will correspond to their actions.

When the magicians attempted to bring forth gnats by their secret arts, they could not. So there were gnats on people and on animals.

not that there really is another gospel, but there are some who are disturbing you and wanting to distort the gospel of Christ.But even if we( or an angel from heaven) should preach a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be condemned to hell!As we have said before, and now I say again, if any one is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, let him be condemned to hell!

But false prophets arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. These false teachers will infiltrate your midst with destructive heresies, even to the point of denying the Master who bought them. Because of these false teachers, the way of truth will be slandered.And in their greed they will exploit you with deceptive words. But I have a few things against you: You have some people there who follow the teaching of Balaam, who instructed Balak to put a stumbling block before the people of Israel so they would eat food sacrificed to idols and commit sexual immorality.In the same way, there are also some among you who follow the teaching of the Nicolaitans.

You have no share or part in this matter because your heart is not right before God!Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that he may perhaps forgive you for the intent of your heart.

The prophet Hananiah son of Azzur, who was from Gibeon, spoke to Jeremiah in the LORD’s temple in the presence of the priests and all the people.“ The LORD God of Israel who rules over all says,‘ I will break the yoke of servitude to the king of Babylon.Before two years are over, I will bring back to this place everything that King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon took from it and carried away to Babylon.I will also bring back to this place Jehoiakim’s son King Jeconiah of Judah and all the exiles who were taken to Babylon.’ Indeed, the LORD affirms,‘ I will break the yoke of servitude to the king of Babylon.’”Then the prophet Jeremiah responded to the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests and all the people who were standing in the LORD’s temple.The prophet Jeremiah said,“ Amen! May the LORD do all this! May the LORD make your prophecy come true! May he bring back to this place from Babylon all the valuable articles taken from the LORD’s temple and the people who were carried into exile.But listen to what I say to you and to all these people.From earliest times, the prophets who preceded you and me invariably prophesied war, disaster, and plagues against many countries and great kingdoms.So if a prophet prophesied peace and prosperity, it was only known that the LORD truly sent him when what he prophesied came true.”The prophet Hananiah then took the yoke off the prophet Jeremiah’s neck and broke it.Then he spoke up in the presence of all the people.“ The LORD says,‘ In the same way I will break the yoke of servitude of all the nations to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon before two years are over.’” After he heard this, the prophet Jeremiah departed and went on his way.But shortly after the prophet Hananiah had broken the yoke off the prophet Jeremiah’s neck, the LORD spoke to Jeremiah.“ Go and tell Hananiah that the LORD says,‘ You have indeed broken the wooden yoke. But you have only succeeded in replacing it with an iron one!For the LORD God of Israel who rules over all says,“ I have put an irresistible yoke of servitude on all these nations so they will serve King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. And they will indeed serve him. I have even given him control over the wild animals.”’”Then the prophet Jeremiah told the prophet Hananiah,“ Listen, Hananiah! The LORD did not send you! You are making these people trust in a lie!So the LORD says,‘ I will most assuredly remove you from the face of the earth. You will die this very year because you have counseled rebellion against the LORD.’”In the seventh month of that very same year the prophet Hananiah died.
