They will act as if they were serving God. But what they do will show that they have turned their backs on God’s power. Have nothing to do with these people.

Their mouths speak of love, but their hearts are greedy for unjust gain.Indeed, to them you are nothing more than one who sings love songs with a beautiful voice and plays an instrument well, for they hear your words but do not put them into practice. Warn a divisive person once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them. (niv)

“ Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. (niv)

Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. (niv)

Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. (niv)

“ Listen to this, you descendants of Jacob, you who are called by the name of Israel and come from the line of Judah, you who take oaths in the name of the Lord and invoke the God of Israel— but not in truth or righteousness—you who call yourselves citizens of the holy city and claim to rely on the God of Israel— the Lord Almighty is his name: (niv)

In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and does not live according to the teaching you received from us. (niv)

I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people. (niv)

Take special note of anyone who does not obey our instruction in this letter. Do not associate with them, in order that they may feel ashamed. (niv)
