These people are grumblers and complainers, living only to satisfy their desires. They brag loudly about themselves, and they flatter others to get what they want.

A curse on their anger, for it is fierce; a curse on their wrath, for it is cruel. I will scatter them among the descendants of Jacob; I will disperse them throughout Israel.

But I am a worm and not a man. I am scorned and despised by all!

I could see that she was drunk— drunk with the blood of God’s holy people who were witnesses for Jesus. I stared at her in complete amazement.

But if they can’t control themselves, they should go ahead and marry. It’s better to marry than to burn with lust.

Do not deprive each other of sexual relations, unless you both agree to refrain from sexual intimacy for a limited time so you can give yourselves more completely to prayer. Afterward, you should come together again so that Satan won’t be able to tempt you because of your lack of self control.

Therefore, anyone who refuses to live by these rules is not disobeying human teaching but is rejecting God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.

The descendants of your tormentors will come and bow before you. Those who despised you will kiss your feet. They will call you the City of the Lord, and Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

“ At the end of their rule, when their sin is at its height, a fierce king, a master of intrigue, will rise to power.

Since they shed the blood of your holy people and your prophets, you have given them blood to drink. It is their just reward.”

There was a famine during David’s reign that lasted for three years, so David asked the Lord about it. And the Lord said,“ The famine has come because Saul and his family are guilty of murdering the Gibeonites.”So the king summoned the Gibeonites. They were not part of Israel but were all that was left of the nation of the Amorites. The people of Israel had sworn not to kill them, but Saul, in his zeal for Israel and Judah, had tried to wipe them out.David asked them,“ What can I do for you? How can I make amends so that you will bless the Lord’s people again?”

Then he said to the disciples,“ Anyone who accepts your message is also accepting me. And anyone who rejects you is rejecting me. And anyone who rejects me is rejecting God, who sent me.”

They promise freedom, but they themselves are slaves of sin and corruption. For you are a slave to whatever controls you.

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil.

Those who despise flagrant sinners, and honor the faithful followers of the Lord, and keep their promises even when it hurts.

But you dishonor the poor! Isn’t it the rich who oppress you and drag you into court?

“ A brother will betray his brother to death, a father will betray his own child, and children will rebel against their parents and cause them to be killed.

The Pharisees, who dearly loved their money, heard all this and scoffed at him.

And no one could buy or sell anything without that mark, which was either the name of the beast or the number representing his name.

He was then permitted to give life to this statue so that it could speak. Then the statue of the beast commanded that anyone refusing to worship it must die.
