But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began contradicting the things spoken by Paul, and were blaspheming.

And when an attempt was made by both the Gentiles and the Jews with their rulers, to treat them abusively and to stone them,they became aware of it and fled to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra and Derbe, and the surrounding region;

The afflictions of the righteous are many, But the Lord rescues him from them all.

Are they servants of Christ?— I am speaking as if insane— I more so; in far more labors, in far more imprisonments, beaten times without number, often in danger of death.Five times I received from the Jews thirty nine lashes.Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, a night and a day I have spent adrift at sea.I have been on frequent journeys, in dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers, dangers from my countrymen, dangers from the Gentiles, dangers in the city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers at sea, dangers among false brothers;I have been in labor and hardship, through many sleepless nights, in hunger and thirst, often without food, in cold and exposure.Apart from such external things, there is the daily pressure on me of concern for all the churches.

So, having obtained help from God, I stand to this day testifying both to small and great, stating nothing but what the Prophets and Moses said was going to take place,

In six troubles He will save you; Even in seven, evil will not touch you.In famine He will redeem you from death, And in war, from the power of the sword.

In Iconium they entered the synagogue of the Jews together, and spoke in such a way that a large number of people believed, both of Jews and of Greeks.But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the minds of the Gentiles and embittered them against the brothers.

Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or trouble, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?Just as it is written:“ For Your sake we are killed all day long; We were regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.

For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, of our affliction which occurred in Asia, that we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of life.Indeed, we had the sentence of death within ourselves so that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead,who rescued us from so great a danger of death, and will rescue us, He on whom we have set our hope. And He will yet deliver us,

When many days had elapsed, the Jews plotted together to do away with him,but their plot became known to Saul. They were also closely watching the gates day and night so that they might put him to death;but his disciples took him at night and let him down through an opening in the wall, lowering him in a large basket.

for I will show him how much he must suffer in behalf of My name.”

The angel who has redeemed me from all evil, Bless the boys; And may my name live on in them, And the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; And may they grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.”

Do not fear, you worm Jacob, you people of Israel; I will help you,” declares the Lord,“ and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.

Now David spoke the words of this song to the Lord on the day that the Lord had saved him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.

partly by being made a public spectacle through insults and distress, and partly by becoming companions with those who were so treated.For you showed sympathy to the prisoners and accepted joyfully the seizure of your property, knowing that you have for yourselves a better and lasting possession.

He rescues, saves, and performs signs and miracles In heaven and on earth, He who has also rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.”

And when a great dissension occurred, the commander was afraid that Paul would be torn to pieces by them, and he ordered the troops to go down and take him away from them by force, and bring him into the barracks.

then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from a trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment,

serving the Lord with all humility and with tears and trials which came upon me through the plots of the Jews;

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith;

rescuing you from the Jewish people and from the Gentiles, to whom I am sending you,

But Jews came from Antioch and Iconium, and having won over the crowds, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, thinking that he was dead.But while the disciples stood around him, he got up and entered the city. The next day he left with Barnabas for Derbe.And after they had preached the gospel to that city and had made a good number of disciples, they returned to Lystra, to Iconium, and to Antioch,

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you.

I will say to the Lord,“ My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!”For it is He who rescues you from the net of the trapper And from the deadly plague.He will cover you with His pinions, And under His wings you may take refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and wall.You will not be afraid of the terror by night, Or of the arrow that flies by day;Of the plague that stalks in darkness, Or of the destruction that devastates at noon.

Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will also help you, I will also uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that through me the proclamation might be fully accomplished, and that all the Gentiles might hear; and I was rescued out of the lion’s mouth.The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed, and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom; to Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

But going on from Perga, they arrived at Pisidian Antioch, and on the Sabbath day they went into the synagogue and sat down.

“ Because he has loved Me, I will save him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name.

Who also brings me out from my enemies; You also raise me above those who rise up against me; You rescue me from the violent person.

requesting a concession against Paul, that he might have him brought to Jerusalem( at the same time, setting an ambush to kill him on the way).Festus then answered that Paul was being kept in custody in Caesarea, and that he himself was about to leave shortly.

we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing;persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed;always carrying around in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.For we who live are constantly being handed over to death because of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our mortal flesh.

And they will fight against you but they will not overcome you, for I am with you to save you,” declares the Lord.

He immediately took along some soldiers and centurions and ran down to the crowd; and when they saw the commander and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul.Then the commander came up and took hold of him, and ordered that he be bound with two chains; and he began asking who he was and what he had done.

But the Jews incited the devout women of prominence and the leading men of the city, and instigated a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their region.But they shook off the dust from their feet in protest against them and went to Iconium.

When it was day, the Jews formed a conspiracy and put themselves under an oath, saying that they would neither eat nor drink until they had killed Paul.There were more than forty who formed this plot.They came to the chief priests and the elders and said,“ We have put ourselves under an oath to taste nothing until we have killed Paul.Now therefore, you and the Council notify the commander to bring him down to you, as though you were going to investigate his case more thoroughly; and as for us, we are ready to kill him before he comes near the place.”But the son of Paul’s sister heard about their ambush, and he came and entered the barracks and told Paul.Paul called one of the centurions to himself and said,“ Take this young man to the commander, for he has something to report to him.”So he took him and led him to the commander and* said,“ Paul the prisoner called me over to him and asked me to bring this young man to you because he has something to tell you.”The commander took him by the hand, and stepping aside, began to inquire of him privately,“ What is it that you have to report to me?”And he said,“ The Jews have agreed to ask you to bring Paul down tomorrow to the Council, as though they were going to inquire somewhat more thoroughly about him.So do not listen to them, for more than forty of them are in hiding to ambush him, and these men have put themselves under an oath not to eat or drink until they kill him; and now they are ready and waiting for assurance from you.”Then the commander let the young man go, instructing him,“ Tell no one that you have notified me of these things.”And he called to him two of the centurions and said,“ Get two hundred soldiers ready by the third hour of the night to proceed to Caesarea, with seventy horsemen and two hundred spearmen.”They were also to provide mounts to put Paul on and bring him safely to Felix the governor.

For I think, God has exhibited us, the apostles, last of all as men condemned to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to mankind.We are fools on account of Christ, but you are prudent in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are distinguished, but we are without honor!Up to this present hour we are both hungry and thirsty, and are poorly clothed and roughly treated and homeless;

The Lord helps them and rescues them; He rescues them from the wicked and saves them, Because they take refuge in Him.

except that the Holy Spirit solemnly testifies to me in every city, saying that chains and afflictions await me.But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, so that I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of God’s grace.
