奉天主恩旨、為耶穌基督之宗徒者、葆樂、偕兄弟蒂茂德、致書於格林多之天主教會、以及亞該亞全境之聖徒曰：

蓋我父之意、欲使凡見子而信之者、咸獲永生；而令予復活之於末日也。』

斯旨無他、即因福音之傳、而萬邦之人、已得於基督耶穌庇蔭之下、同為嗣子、融成一體、共享恩諾是已。

此聖教乃建立於永生期望之上、而永生乃真實無妄之天主所許於萬古之前、

且其所以為新約之仲介者、亦欲以一己之死、贖人於舊約下所犯之眾罪、而令蒙召者得承受所許之永遠基業耳。

爾等窮索諸經、意欲藉獲永生、第諸經莫非為予作證、而爾等獨不願歸予、以獲生命！

人能識父為唯一真宰、及父所遣之耶穌基督、則永生即在斯中。

耶穌又謂之曰：『予切實告爾、爾苟不食人子之體而飲其血、則爾不具生命。

吾人仰賴耶穌之神德、得認識以其大榮大德而恩召吾人之天主。於是凡關於立身處世、敬事天主所需之一切、乃應有而盡有矣。賴斯大榮大德、吾人復受有無上無疆之恩諾、俾吾人脫世俗縱情恣慾之腐敗惡習、得躋於神化之境、而融於天主之性。

予賜以永生、終無淪亡之虞、亦無能奪自予手。

奉天主恩旨、蒙召為耶穌基督之宗徒者葆樂、偕兄弟蘇士丹、

罪之彰在死亡之界而恩之盛則在永生之域。其所以然者、惟恃吾主耶穌而成義耳。

予切實告爾、人能聽從吾言、而信仰遣予來者、莫不享受永生、而免譴責、蓋已出死而入生矣。

此即永生、亦即天主所夙許於吾人之恩諾也。

此亦所以為來日自培美基、以把握真生命耳。

故無論天主之恩諾為如何多且盛也、惟在耶穌身上、則皆實事求是、無絲毫之虛妄；而吾人之所以能心悅誠服、歸榮於天主、而應『心焉祝之』者、亦憑耶穌而已矣。

蓋罪孽之果報為死、而天主之恩賜、則因耶穌基督而獲永生是已。

葆樂、耶穌基督之僕、蒙召為宗徒、而負有宣傳天主福音之使命。
