Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

Brothers and sisters, if a person is discovered in some sin, you who are spiritual restore such a person in a spirit of gentleness. Pay close attention to yourselves, so that you are not tempted too.

And we urge you, brothers and sisters, admonish the undisciplined, comfort the discouraged, help the weak, be patient toward all.

Reject a divisive person after one or two warnings.

“ If your brother sins, go and show him his fault when the two of you are alone. If he listens to you, you have regained your brother.

And have mercy on those who waver;save others by snatching them out of the fire; have mercy on others, coupled with a fear of God, hating even the clothes stained by the flesh.

For if I boast somewhat more about our authority that the Lord gave us for building you up and not for tearing you down, I will not be ashamed of doing so.

You must not hate your brother in your heart. You must surely reprove your fellow citizen so that you do not incur sin on account of him.You must not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the children of your people, but you must love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.

My brothers and sisters, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone turns him back,he should know that the one who turns a sinner back from his wandering path will save that person’s soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

This punishment on such an individual by the majority is enough for him,so that now instead you should rather forgive and comfort him. This will keep him from being overwhelmed by excessive grief to the point of despair.Therefore I urge you to reaffirm your love for him.For this reason also I wrote you: to test you to see if you are obedient in everything.If you forgive anyone for anything, I also forgive him– for indeed what I have forgiven( if I have forgiven anything) I did so for you in the presence of Christ,

Give instruction to a wise person, and he will become wiser still; teach a righteous person and he will add to his learning.

turn this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord.

I am not writing these things to shame you, but to correct you as my dear children.

Like an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover to the ear of the one who listens.

May the godly strike me in love and correct me! May my head not refuse choice oil! Indeed, my prayer is a witness against their evil deeds.

Because of this I am writing these things while absent, so that when I arrive I may not have to deal harshly with you by using my authority– the Lord gave it to me for building up, not for tearing down!
