我求爾、勿輒動心驚怖、或以靈、或以言、或似由我之書、以為主之日已至、

切求兄弟、勿輒動心驚怖、或為神感、或聽人言、或展手書、似我所遺、言基督臨日伊邇、

我儕求兄弟、或有神、或有言、或有冒我名之書信、言基督降臨之日伊邇、勿輒動心、亦勿驚亂、

我懇切勸兄弟、勿輕信任何預言理論、或冒充吾人之書信、而有動於心、乃至驚惶失措、一若主臨之日、即在目前也者。

not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us— whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter— asserting that the day of the Lord has already come.

What if you receive a message that is supposed to have come from us? What if it says that the day of the Lord has already come? If it does, we ask you not to become easily upset or alarmed. Don’t be upset whether that message is spoken or written or prophesied.

Don’t be so easily shaken or alarmed by those who say that the day of the Lord has already begun. Don’t believe them, even if they claim to have had a spiritual vision, a revelation, or a letter supposedly from us.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,

And when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. This must take place, but the end is not yet.

And Jesus answered them,“ See that no one leads you astray.For many will come in my name, saying,‘ I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray.And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet.

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed.And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

They will say,“ Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.”For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God,and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished.But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

“ Do not call conspiracy all that this people calls conspiracy, and do not fear what they fear, nor be in dread.But the Lord of hosts, him you shall honor as holy. Let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

And when you hear of wars and tumults, do not be terrified, for these things must first take place, but the end will not be at once.”

For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.

By your endurance you will gain your lives.

“ Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.

For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.

I have heard what the prophets have said who prophesy lies in my name, saying,‘ I have dreamed, I have dreamed!’How long shall there be lies in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies, and who prophesy the deceit of their own heart,who think to make my people forget my name by their dreams that they tell one another, even as their fathers forgot my name for Baal?

“ If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder,and the sign or wonder that he tells you comes to pass, and if he says,‘ Let us go after other gods,’ which you have not known,‘ and let us serve them,’you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For the Lord your God is testing you, to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear him and keep his commandments and obey his voice, and you shall serve him and hold fast to him.But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has taught rebellion against the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you out of the house of slavery, to make you leave the way in which the Lord your God commanded you to walk. So you shall purge the evil from your midst.

I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand. This is the sign of genuineness in every letter of mine; it is the way I write.

When the house of David was told,“ Syria is in league with Ephraim,” the heart of Ahaz and the heart of his people shook as the trees of the forest shake before the wind.

who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

If a man should go about and utter wind and lies, saying,“ I will preach to you of wine and strong drink,” he would be the preacher for this people!

except that the Holy Spirit testifies to me in every city that imprisonment and afflictions await me.But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who in its presence had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.

Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

that no one be moved by these afflictions. For you yourselves know that we are destined for this.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.

So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter.
