Now David said,“ Is there still anyone who is left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”

大闢曰、掃羅裔尚有遺乎、緣約拿單故、我欲施恩於彼。

David asked,“ Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”

David asked,“ Is anyone left from the royal house of Saul? If there is, I want to be kind to him because of Jonathan.”

And David said,“ Is there still anyone left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”

One day David asked,“ Is anyone in Saul’s family still alive— anyone to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”

David asked,“ Is there anyone remaining from the family of Saul I can show kindness to for Jonathan’s sake?”

Then David said,“ Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul, so that I could show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”

And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?

David asked,“ Is there anyone remaining from Saul’s family I can show kindness to because of Jonathan?”

And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?

Then David asked,“ Is anyone still left from the family of Saul, so that I may extend kindness to him for the sake of Jonathan?”

David said,“ Is there yet any who is left of Saul’s house, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”

Then Jonathan said to David,“ Go in peace, since we have both sworn in the name of the Lord, saying,‘ May the Lord be between you and me, and between your descendants and my descendants, forever.’” So he arose and departed, and Jonathan went into the city.

And the King will answer and say to them,‘ Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

And you shall not only show me the kindness of the Lord while I still live, that I may not die;but you shall not cut off your kindness from my house forever, no, not when the Lord has cut off every one of the enemies of David from the face of the earth.”So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying,“ Let the Lord require it at the hand of David’s enemies.”Now Jonathan again caused David to vow, because he loved him; for he loved him as he loved his own soul.

For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, assuredly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.

When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother,“ Woman, behold your son!”Then He said to the disciple,“ Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home.

Then Jonathan, Saul’s son, arose and went to David in the woods and strengthened his hand in God.And he said to him,“ Do not fear, for the hand of Saul my father shall not find you. You shall be king over Israel, and I shall be next to you. Even my father Saul knows that.”So the two of them made a covenant before the Lord. And David stayed in the woods, and Jonathan went to his own house.

yet for love’s sake I rather appeal to you— being such a one as Paul, the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ—I appeal to you for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten while in my chains,who once was unprofitable to you, but now is profitable to you and to me.I am sending him back. You therefore receive him, that is, my own heart,

I am distressed for you, my brother Jonathan; You have been very pleasant to me; Your love to me was wonderful, Surpassing the love of women.

“ But show kindness to the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be among those who eat at your table, for so they came to me when I fled from Absalom your brother.

And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.”

Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous;

Do not forsake your own friend or your father’s friend, Nor go to your brother’s house in the day of your calamity; Better is a neighbor nearby than a brother far away.

Now when he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.Saul took him that day, and would not let him go home to his father’s house anymore.Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.And Jonathan took off the robe that was on him and gave it to David, with his armor, even to his sword and his bow and his belt.
