He let the other third remain alive. So the Moabites were brought under David’s rule. They gave him the gifts he required them to bring him.

And he defeated Moab and he measured them with a line, making them lie down on the ground. Two lines he measured to be put to death, and one full line to be spared. And the Moabites became servants to David and brought tribute.

爾勿聽焉、蓋亞述王曰、爾當與我修和、歸誠於我、厥後可各食其葡萄、及無花果、各飲己井之水、

摩押王米沙、有羊眾多、歲以羔羊十萬、未翦毛之牡綿羊十萬、入貢於以色列王。亞哈既薨、摩押王叛。當時約藍王出撒馬利亞、核以色列族眾、遣人至猶大王約沙法曰、摩押王叛我、爾與我偕、攻摩押可乎。曰、可、爾我無異視、我民即爾民、我馬即爾馬。曰、當由何途而往。曰、途必由以東野。以色列、猶大、以東、三王偕往、紆途而行、歷程七日、軍旅及牲畜無水。以色列王曰、哀哉、耶和華集此三王、付之於摩押人手。約沙法曰、在此豈無耶和華之先知、容我問耶和華。以色列王之臣對曰、供以利亞盥手之役者、沙法子以利沙在此。約沙法曰、彼奉耶和華之命者歟。於是以色列王、及約沙法、與以東王、俱往見之。以利沙告以色列王曰、我與爾何與、爾父母亦有先知、可往問焉。以色列王曰、請毋言是、我知耶和華已集三王、付之與摩押人手。以利沙曰、我指所事萬有之主耶和華以誓、惟猶大王約沙法、我眷顧之、若祇爾一人、豈得蒙我眷顧乎。盍命鼓琴者至。琴既鼓焉、耶和華感之、遂曰、耶和華云、宜於谷中作諸溝澮、雖無風雨、水必盈於斯谷、使爾及牲畜咸飲。我視此猶為細事、亦將以摩押人付於爾手。邑垣之鞏固者、華麗者、爾可擊之、砍諸佳木、塞諸井泉、以石填諸腴壤。詰朝獻禮物之時、自以東道、有水忽至、充溢斯谷。摩押人聞列王至、欲與戰、則集少長、凡能披甲者、立於其境。夙興、日照於水、此水與摩押人相對、望之色紅若血。遂曰、是乃血矣。列王相擊而斃、我摩押之眾可起、得其貨財。乃至以色列族營、以色列人起、攻擊其眾、使之敗北、從而追襲、遂入摩押境、擊其邑垣、在諸腴壤、各擲石以填之、塞諸井泉、砍諸佳木、環攻吉哈喇泄、以繩發石、僅存城垣。摩押王見戰不利、則率軍旅七百人、欲馳突而過、至以東王所、不得過焉。遂取將繼位之長子、獻為燔祭於邑垣。以色列族見此、無不憤怒、離摩押王、而反故土。

烏西亞其國鞏固、名播埃及、亞捫人納貢。

大失海島之王、將饋禮物、示巴西巴之主、將納貢稅兮、列王稽首、萬姓歸誠兮。

掃羅為以色列國王、攻四方之敵、即摩押、亞捫、以東諸族、鎖巴列王、非利士人、無論所往、均加殘害。
