Benaiah wrenched the spear from the Egyptian’s hand and killed him with it.Deeds like these made Benaiah as famous as the Three mightiest warriors.He was more honored than the other members of the Thirty, though he was not one of the Three. And David made him captain of his bodyguard.

And what sorrow awaits you Philistines who live along the coast and in the land of Canaan, for this judgment is against you, too! The Lord will destroy you until not one of you is left.

And Ira, a descendant of Jair, was David’s personal priest.

So Benaiah son of Jehoiada returned to the sacred tent and killed Joab, and he was buried at his home in the wilderness.Then the king appointed Benaiah to command the army in place of Joab, and he installed Zadok the priest to take the place of Abiathar.

Benaiah son of Jehoiada was commander of the army. Zadok and Abiathar were priests.

Therefore, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will raise my fist of judgment against the land of the Philistines. I will wipe out the Kerethites and utterly destroy the people who live by the sea.
