耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅、是甲薛有力氣的人，曾行過大有作為的事；他擊殺了摩押兩隻小獅；又在下雪的日子下到坑中去擊殺一隻獅子。他又擊殺了一個埃及人、一個體格很好的人。這埃及人手裏拿着矛；比拿雅只拿着棍子下去，竟從埃及人手裏將矛奪過來，又用他的矛將他殺死。耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅行了這些事，他就得了名、像三勇士一樣。在三十勇士級裏他是尊貴的，只是還沒有達到三勇士的等級。大衛立他做衛隊長。

沿海地帶的居民、基利提人的國有禍啊！有永恆主的話在譴責你們呢！非利士人之地啊，我必使你屈服；我必毁滅你，使你沒有居民。

睚珥人以拉做大衛的祭司。

於是耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅上去，擊殺了約押，將他殺死，給埋葬在曠野約押自己的宅地裏。王就立了耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅統領着軍隊來代替約押；王也使祭司撒督代替亞比亞他。

耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅統領軍隊；撒督和亞比亞他做祭司長；

那麼永恆主就這麼說：看吧，我必伸手攻擊非利士人，剪除基利提人，滅盡沿海一帶餘剩之民。
