以撒回答以扫说：“看哪，我已立他作你的主，使他的弟兄都给他作仆人，并赐他五谷新酒可以养生。我儿，那么，现在我还能为你做什么呢？”以扫对他父亲说：“我父啊，你只有一个祝福吗？我父啊，求你也为我祝福！”以扫就放声而哭。他父亲以撒回答说：“看哪，你所住的地方必缺乏肥沃的土地，缺乏天上的甘露。你必倚靠刀剑度日，又必服侍你的兄弟；到你强盛的时候，必从你颈项上挣开他的轭。

于是大卫在大马士革的亚兰设立军营，亚兰人就臣服大卫，向他进贡。大卫无论往哪里去，耶和华都使他得胜。

那时以东没有立王，由总督治理。

保护以色列的必不打盹，也不睡觉。保护你的是耶和华，耶和华在你右边荫庇你。白日，太阳必不伤你；夜间，月亮也不害你。耶和华要保护你，免受一切的灾害，他要保护你的性命。你出你入，耶和华要保护你，从今时直到永远。
