I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought the Israelites up out of Egypt to this day. I have been moving from place to place with a tent as my dwelling.

I brought the Israelites up out of Egypt. But I have not lived in a house from then until now. I have been moving from place to place. I have been living in a tent.

The whole assembly of the Israelites gathered at Shiloh and set up the tent of meeting there. The country was brought under their control,

When Moses set up the tabernacle, he put the bases in place, erected the frames, inserted the crossbars and set up the posts.Then he spread the tent over the tabernacle and put the covering over the tent, as the Lord commanded him.

“‘ If in spite of this you still do not listen to me but continue to be hostile toward me,then in my anger I will be hostile toward you, and I myself will punish you for your sins seven times over.

The Lord replied,“ My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”Then Moses said to him,“ If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.

“‘ If in spite of these things you do not accept my correction but continue to be hostile toward me,I myself will be hostile toward you and will afflict you for your sins seven times over.

“ To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands.

For the Lord your God moves about in your camp to protect you and to deliver your enemies to you. Your camp must be holy, so that he will not see among you anything indecent and turn away from you.

I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought Israel up out of Egypt to this day. I have moved from one tent site to another, from one dwelling place to another.Wherever I have moved with all the Israelites, did I ever say to any of their leaders whom I commanded to shepherd my people,“ Why have you not built me a house of cedar?”’

Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.Moses could not enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.In all the travels of the Israelites, whenever the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle, they would set out;but if the cloud did not lift, they did not set out— until the day it lifted.So the cloud of the Lord was over the tabernacle by day, and fire was in the cloud by night, in the sight of all the Israelites during all their travels.

“ Our ancestors had the tabernacle of the covenant law with them in the wilderness. It had been made as God directed Moses, according to the pattern he had seen.

What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said:“ I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.”

So they set out from the mountain of the Lord and traveled for three days. The ark of the covenant of the Lord went before them during those three days to find them a place to rest.The cloud of the Lord was over them by day when they set out from the camp.Whenever the ark set out, Moses said,“ Rise up, Lord! May your enemies be scattered; may your foes flee before you.”Whenever it came to rest, he said,“ Return, Lord, to the countless thousands of Israel.”
