I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he does wrong, I will punish him with a rod wielded by men, with floggings inflicted by human hands.

從前神到底對哪一位天使說過「你是我的兒子，我今天生了你」，又說「我將成為他的父親，他成為我的兒子」呢？

凡是我所愛的，我都責備、管教。所以你應當熱心，應當悔改。

即使我們受懲罰，也是在受主的管教，免得我們和這世界一同被定罪。

我找到我的僕人大衛，用我聖潔的膏油膏抹了他。我的手必堅定地與他同在，我的膀臂也必使他穩固。仇敵不能毀滅他，不義之子也不能苦待他。我要在他面前打碎他的敵人，我要擊打那些恨他的人。我的信實和我的慈愛要與他同在；奉我的名，他的角必被高舉。我要把他的左手放到海洋上，把他的右手放到河流中。他將呼求我：『你是我的父、我的神，是我救恩的磐石。』我還要立他作長子，作地上君王中的至高者。我要向他持守我的慈愛，直到永遠；我與他所立的約也必堅定。我要堅立他的後裔，直到永遠；使他的寶座如天之久。如果他的子孫離棄我的律法，不照著我的法規而行；如果他們褻瀆我的律例，不遵守我的誡命；我就要用杖懲罰他們的過犯，用鞭懲罰他們的罪孽。然而，我不會從他身上收回我的慈愛，也不會背棄我的信實。我不會違背我的約，也不會改變我口中所出的話。我曾指著我的聖潔起過一次誓，我絕不對大衛說謊。他的後裔將長存，直到永遠；他的寶座在我面前如同太陽，又如月亮永遠確立，像是天上確實的見證。」細拉

難道你們已經忘記那安慰的話嗎？就是他對你們如同對兒女那樣講論的話：「我兒，你不可輕看主的管教；被他責備的時候，也不可喪氣。因為主所愛的人，主都管教；他所接納的每一個兒子，他都鞭打。」對管教的事，你們要忍受；神對待你們，就像對待兒女那樣。到底哪一個兒子不受父親的管教呢？大家都有份受管教；你們如果沒有受管教，那麼，你們就是私生子，不是兒子了。再者，我們有肉身的父親來管教我們，我們尚且敬重他們，何況對這位萬靈之父，我們難道不更要服從他而活著嗎？肉身的父親在短暫的日子裡，固然照著自己的意思來管教我們；但萬靈之父是為了我們的益處管教我們，好使我們在他的聖潔上有份。不過所有的管教，當時雖然不覺得是愉快的事，反覺得是憂傷的事，而後來卻為那些由此受到操練的人，結出平安和義行的果子。

這時候，忽然有聲音從諸天傳來，說：「這是我的愛子，我所喜悅的。」

耶和華啊！你所管教、用律法教導的人，是蒙福的。你使他在災禍的日子裡平穩，直到給惡人挖好了深坑；

我兒啊，不可厭棄耶和華的管教，也不可厭惡他的責備！因為耶和華責備他所愛的，正如父親責備他所喜悅的兒子。
