迨爾年壽已滿、與爾列祖同寢、我必使爾所出之苗裔、所出之苗裔或作所生之子繼爾位、我亦必鞏固其國、

When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom.

Some day your life will come to an end. You will join the members of your family who have already died. Then I will make one of your own sons the next king after you. And I will make his kingdom secure.

When your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.

現在耶和華成就了他所應許的話，使我接續我父大衛坐以色列的國位，又為耶和華－以色列神的名建造了殿。

大衛的死期臨近了，就囑咐他兒子所羅門說：

耶和華向大衛、憑誠實起了誓，必不反覆，說：我要使你所生的坐在你的寶座上。你的眾子若守我的約和我所教訓他們的法度，他們的子孫必永遠坐在你的寶座上。

耶和華又對摩西說：「你必和你列祖同睡。這百姓要起來，在他們所要去的地上，在那地的人中，隨從外邦神行邪淫，離棄我，違背我與他們所立的約。

大衛既是先知，又曉得神曾向他起誓，要從他的後裔中立一位坐在他的寶座上，

你壽數滿足歸你列祖的時候，我必使你的後裔接續你的位，我也必堅定他的國。

「大衛在世的時候遵行了神的旨意，就睡了，歸到他祖宗那裏，已見朽壞；

他的政權與平安必加增無窮。他必在大衛的寶座上治理他的國，以公平公義使國堅定穩固，從今直到永遠。萬軍之耶和華的熱心必成就這事。

若不然，到我主我王與列祖同睡以後，我和我兒子所羅門必算為罪人了。」

到那日，耶西的根立作萬民的大旗；外邦人必尋求他，他安息之所大有榮耀。

我也要使他的後裔存到永遠，使他的寶座如天之久。

睡在塵埃中的，必有多人復醒。其中有得永生的，有受羞辱永遠被憎惡的。

「論到基督，你們的意見如何？他是誰的子孫呢？」他們回答說：「是大衛的子孫。」耶穌說：「這樣，大衛被聖靈感動，怎麼還稱他為主，說：主對我主說：你坐在我的右邊，等我把你仇敵放在你的腳下。

耶和華又有話對他說：「這人必不成為你的後嗣；你本身所生的才成為你的後嗣。」

從耶西的本必發一條；從他根生的枝子必結果實。耶和華的靈必住在他身上，就是使他有智慧和聰明的靈，謀略和能力的靈，知識和敬畏耶和華的靈。他必以敬畏耶和華為樂；行審判不憑眼見，斷是非也不憑耳聞；

我如今把一件奧祕的事告訴你們：我們不是都要睡覺，乃是都要改變，

我們若信耶穌死而復活了，那已經在耶穌裏睡了的人，神也必將他們與耶穌一同帶來。
