When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom.

Some day your life will come to an end. You will join the members of your family who have already died. Then I will make one of your own sons the next king after you. And I will make his kingdom secure.

When your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.

「耶和華已經實現祂的應許，祂讓我繼承我父大衛的王位統治以色列。現在，我為以色列的上帝耶和華的名建了殿，

大衛臨終時，叮囑他兒子所羅門說：

耶和華曾向大衛起了永不廢棄的誓說：「我必使你的後代繼承你的王位。你的後代若守我的約，遵行我教導他們的法度，他們的子孫必永遠坐在你的寶座上。」

耶和華對摩西說：「你快要與祖先同眠了。這些百姓將很快在要佔領的土地上與外族人的神明苟合，背棄我，違背我與他們所立的約。

大衛是先知，知道上帝曾起誓要從他的後裔中選立一人繼承他的王位。

你離世歸到祖先那裡的時候，我必使你的一位後裔繼承你的王位，使他的國堅立。

「大衛在世時遵行上帝的旨意，最後死了，葬在他祖先那裡，肉身也朽壞了。

祂的國必長治久安。祂必坐在大衛的寶座上以公平和公義治國，使國家永固。萬軍之耶和華必熱切地成就此事。

不然，到我主我王與祖先同眠之後，我和我兒所羅門必被定為罪人。」

到那日，耶西的根必成為引導萬民的旗幟，外族人都來尋求他，他的住處充滿榮耀。

我要使他的後裔永無窮盡，讓他的王位與天同存。

許多長眠地下的人必醒過來，有些得到永生，有些蒙受羞辱，永遠被憎惡。

「你們對基督有何看法？祂是誰的後裔？」他們答道：「大衛的後裔。」耶穌說：「那麼，為什麼大衛受聖靈感動，稱祂為主呢？大衛曾說，『主對我主說，你坐在我的右邊，等我使你的仇敵伏在你腳下。』

耶和華又對他說：「這人不會成為你的繼承人，你親生的兒子才是你的繼承人。」

就像樹墩上長出新的枝條，大衛的後裔中必有一人做王。耶和華的靈必住在他身上，使他有聰明和智慧、謀略和能力，能認識並敬畏耶和華。他必以敬畏耶和華為樂。他不憑眼見施行審判，不憑耳聞斷定是非，

聽著，我要告訴你們一個奧祕：我們並不是都要死亡，乃是都要改變——

我們既然相信耶穌死了，又復活了，也要相信上帝必把那些安息的信徒和耶穌一同帶來。
