So David would not move the ark of the Lord with him into the City of David; but David took it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.

He was not willing to take the ark of the Lord to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed- Edom the Gittite.

He didn’t want to take the ark of the Lord to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed- Edom. Obed- Edom was from Gath.

So David was not willing to take the ark of the Lord into the city of David. But David took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.

So David decided not to move the Ark of the Lord into the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed edom of Gath.

So he was not willing to bring the ark of the LORD to the city of David; instead, he diverted it to the house of Obed-edom of Gath.

And David was unwilling to move the ark of the Lord into the city of David with him; but David took it aside to the house of Obed edom, the Gittite.

So David would not remove the ark of Jehovah unto him into the city of David; but David carried it aside into the house of Obed- edom the Gittite.

So he was not willing to move the ark of the Lord to the city of David; instead, he took it to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.

So David was no longer willing to bring the ark of the LORD to be with him in the City of David. David left it in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.

So David would not move Yahweh’s ark to be with him in David’s city; but David carried it aside into Obed- Edom the Gittite’s house.

Moreover the sons of Obed-Edom were Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sacar the fourth, Nethanel the fifth,Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peulthai the eighth; for God blessed him.Also to Shemaiah his son were sons born who governed their fathers’ houses, because they were men of great ability.The sons of Shemaiah were Othni, Rephael, Obed, and Elzabad, whose brothers Elihu and Semachiah were able men.All these were of the sons of Obed-Edom, they and their sons and their brethren, able men with strength for the work: sixty-two of Obed-Edom.

Then the king said to Ittai the Gittite,“ Why are you also going with us? Return and remain with the king. For you are a foreigner and also an exile from your own place.

Asaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah, then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, and Obed-Edom: Jeiel with stringed instruments and harps, but Asaph made music with cymbals;

and with them their brethren of the second rank: Zechariah, Ben, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Elipheleh, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, the gatekeepers;

Then David sent out one third of the people under the hand of Joab, one third under the hand of Abishai the son of Zeruiah, Joab’s brother, and one third under the hand of Ittai the Gittite. And the king said to the people,“ I also will surely go out with you myself.”

So David would not move the ark with him into the City of David, but took it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house three months. And the Lord blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all that he had.

because the Beerothites fled to Gittaim and have been sojourners there until this day.)
