He didn’t want to take the ark of the Lord to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed- Edom. Obed- Edom was from Gath.

He was not willing to take the ark of the Lord to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed- Edom the Gittite.

So David was not willing to take the ark of the Lord into the city of David. But David took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.

So David decided not to move the Ark of the Lord into the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed edom of Gath.

So he was not willing to bring the ark of the LORD to the city of David; instead, he diverted it to the house of Obed-edom of Gath.

And David was unwilling to move the ark of the Lord into the city of David with him; but David took it aside to the house of Obed edom, the Gittite.

So David would not move the ark of the Lord with him into the City of David; but David took it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.

So David would not remove the ark of Jehovah unto him into the city of David; but David carried it aside into the house of Obed- edom the Gittite.

So he was not willing to move the ark of the Lord to the city of David; instead, he took it to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.

So David was no longer willing to bring the ark of the LORD to be with him in the City of David. David left it in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.

So David would not move Yahweh’s ark to be with him in David’s city; but David carried it aside into Obed- Edom the Gittite’s house.

Obed- Edom also had sons. Shemaiah was his first son. Jehozabad was his second son. Joah was the third. Sakar was the fourth. Nethanel was the fifth.Ammiel was the sixth. Issachar was the seventh. And Peullethai was the eighth. God had blessed Obed- Edom.Obed- Edom’s son Shemaiah also had sons. They were leaders in their family. That’s because they were men of great ability.The sons of Shemaiah were Othni, Rephael, Obed and Elzabad. Elzabad’s relatives Elihu and Semakiah were also capable men.All of them belonged to the family line of Obed- Edom. They and their sons and relatives were capable men. They were strong enough to do their work. The total number of men in the family line of Obed- Edom was 62.

The king spoke to Ittai. He was from Gath. The king said to him,“ Why do you want to come along with us? Go back. Stay with King Absalom. You are an outsider. You left your own country.

Asaph was the leader of those Levites. Zechariah was next in rank. Then came Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed- Edom and Jeiel. They played the lyres and harps. Asaph played the cymbals.

Along with them they chose their relatives who were next in rank. Their names were Zechariah, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed- Edom and Jeiel. They guarded the gates.

Then David sent out his troops in military groups. One group was under the command of Joab. Another was under Joab’s brother Abishai, the son of Zeruiah. The last was under Ittai, the Gittite. The king told the troops,“ You can be sure that I myself will march out with you.”

So he didn’t take the ark to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed- Edom. Obed- Edom was from Gath.The ark of God remained with the family of Obed- Edom. It stayed in his house for three months. And the Lord blessed his family. He also blessed everything that belonged to him.

That’s because the people who used to live in Beeroth had run away to Gittaim. They have lived there as outsiders to this day.
