俄別·以東的長子是示瑪雅，次子是約薩拔，三子是約亞，四子是沙甲，五子是拿坦業，六子是亞米利，七子是以薩迦，八子是毗烏利太。上帝特別賜福俄別·以東。他兒子示瑪雅有幾個兒子都很能幹，在各自的家族中做首領。他們是俄得尼、利法益、俄備得、以利薩巴。他們的親族以利戶和西瑪迦也很能幹。這些都是俄別·以東的子孫，他們和他們的兒子及親族共有六十二人，都是能幹稱職的人。

王問迦特人以太說：「你為什麼要跟我們一起逃難呢？回去留在新王那裡吧！你是流亡到這裡的外族人。

為首的是亞薩，其次是撒迦利雅、雅薛、示米拉末、耶歇、瑪他提雅、以利押、比拿雅、俄別·以東和耶利，他們鼓瑟彈琴，亞薩敲鈸。

協助他們的親族有撒迦利雅、雅薛、示米拉末、耶歇、烏尼、以利押、比拿雅、瑪西雅、瑪他提雅、以利斐利戶、彌克尼雅，以及守門的俄別·以東和耶利。

他兵分三隊，一隊由約押率領，一隊由洗魯雅的兒子、約押的兄弟亞比篩率領，一隊由迦特人以太率領。大衛對部下說：「我必與你們一同出戰」。

因此，大衛沒有將約櫃運到大衛城，而是把它運到迦特人俄別·以東家。上帝的約櫃在俄別·以東家存放了三個月。耶和華使俄別·以東家及其擁有的一切都蒙福。
