So he died there in the presence of God.David was angry because of the Lord’s outburst against Uzzah, so he named that place Outburst Against Uzzah, as it is still named today.David feared God that day and said,“ How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?”So David did not move the ark of God home to the city of David; instead, he took it to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.The ark of God remained with Obed-edom’s family in his house for three months, and the Lord blessed his family and all that he had.

Lord, remember David and all the hardships he endured,and how he swore an oath to the Lord, making a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:“ I will not enter my house or get into my bed,I will not allow my eyes to sleep or my eyelids to slumberuntil I find a place for the Lord, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”We heard of the ark in Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of Jaar.

All the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and said,“ Here we are, your own flesh and blood.
