The king and his men marched to Jerusalem to attack the Jebusites, who lived there. The Jebusites said to David,“ You will not get in here; even the blind and the lame can ward you off.” They thought,“ David cannot get in here.”

浸假攻爾之迦勒底人、為爾所擊、其軍中惟遺被傷之卒、偃於幕下、亦能起、燬斯邑。

利未人不允、乃攜其妾、挈其二驢、備駕而往、至耶布士相向之所。耶布士即耶路撒冷。近耶布士時、日已暮矣。僕謂主曰、請入耶布士人之邑而宿。主曰、此邑屬於外人、非屬以色列族者、不可入。至其庇亞可也。

耶路撒冷王亞多尼西特遣人至希伯崙王和咸、耶末王庇蘭、拉吉王耶非亞、厄倫王底必、告之曰、

麥基洗德撒冷王也、為至高上帝之祭司、昔遇亞伯拉罕、戰敗諸王旋、而為之祝嘏、

大闢率以色列族眾、至耶路撒冷、耶布士人所居之邑。耶布士人告大闢曰、爾不得入此、郇邑險要、大闢陷之、故以己名稱其邑曰、大闢。大闢曰、先擊耶布士人者、可為軍長、西魯雅子約押先往、而為軍長。大闢扼居險要、邑名大闢。自米羅至四周築垣、其餘為約押修葺。自此大闢日漸昌大、萬有之主耶和華祐之。
