David made a covenant with them at Hebron in the Lord’s presence, and they anointed David king over Israel, in keeping with the Lord’s word through Samuel.

And tell Amasa,‘ Aren’t you my flesh and blood? May God punish me and do so severely if you don’t become commander of the army from now on instead of Joab!’”

“ Please speak in the presence of all the lords of Shechem,‘ Is it better for you that 70 men, all the sons of Jerubbaal, rule over you or that one man rule over you?’ Remember that I am your own flesh and blood.”

Now since the children have flesh and blood in common, Jesus also shared in these, so that through His death He might destroy the one holding the power of death— that is, the Devil—

since we are members of His body.

All the rest of Israel was also of one mind to make David king.They spent three days there eating and drinking with David, for their relatives had provided for them.In addition, their neighbors from as far away as Issachar, Zebulun, and Naphtali came and brought food on donkeys, camels, mules, and oxen— abundant provisions of flour, fig cakes, raisins, wine and oil, oxen, and sheep. Indeed, there was joy in Israel.
