when someone told me,‘ Saul is dead,’ and thought he was bringing good news, I seized him and put him to death in Ziklag. That was the reward I gave him for his news!

第三天，忽見一人從營裏掃羅那裏出來，衣服撕裂，頭上放土；一到大衛面前，就伏地叩拜。大衛問他說：『你從哪裏來的？』他對他說：『我是從以色列營裏逃來的。』大衛又問他說：『事情怎麼樣了？請告訴我。』他說：『民眾從戰場上逃跑，也有許多人仆倒死亡，掃羅和他兒子約拿單也死了。』大衛問向他報信的青年人說：『你怎麼知道掃羅和他兒子約拿單死了呢？』向他報信的青年人說：『我碰巧在基利波山上，忽見掃羅靠在自己的矛上，又見有車輛和馬兵首領緊緊地追上他。他向後一轉，就看見我，便呼叫我；我說：『看哪，我在這裏呢。』他問我說：『你是誰？』我對他說：『我是亞瑪力人。』他對我說：「請站在我身旁，將我殺死；因為我只是感到暈眩，我的生氣還在。」我準知道他仆倒後必活不了，就去站在他身旁，將他殺死，把他頭上的王冠、手臂上的環子、拿到我主這裏來。』大衛就把衣服撕裂；跟隨的人也都撕裂衣裳。為了掃羅和掃羅的兒子約拿單、並為了永恆主的眾民、以色列家的人、就號咷哀哭，禁食到晚上，因為這許多人都倒斃於刀下。大衛問向他報信的青年人說：『你是哪裏的人？』他說：『我是個寄居人的兒子、是個亞瑪力人。』大衛對他說：『你伸手殺害永恆主所膏立的，怎麼還不畏懼呢？』大衛叫了一個青年人來，說：『你上前去、把他殺掉。』那青年人刺他一刀，他就死了。大衛先對他說：『你流人血的罪歸到你自己頭上，因為你親口作證控訴你自己、說：「我把永恆主所膏立的殺死了。」』
