我押尼珥若不循主所誓於大衛者、為大衛而行、則願主從重罰我、

May God deal with Abner, be it ever so severely, if I do not do for David what the Lord promised him on oath

I will do for David what the Lord promised him. If I don’t, may God punish me greatly.

God do so to Abner and more also, if I do not accomplish for David what the Lord has sworn to him,

May God punish Abner and do so severely if I don’t do for David what the LORD swore to him:

May God do so to me, and more so, if as the Lord has sworn to David, I do not accomplish this for him:

God do so to Abner, and more also, if, as Jehovah hath sworn to David, I do not even so to him;

May God punish Abner and do so severely if I don’t do for David what the Lord swore to him:

God will severely judge Abner if I do not do for David exactly what the LORD has promised him,

God do so to Abner, and more also, if, as Yahweh has sworn to David, I don’t do even so to him;

And Samuel said to him,“ The Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today and has given it to someone else— one who is better than you.

So Jezebel sent this message to Elijah:“ May the gods strike me and even kill me if by this time tomorrow I have not killed you just as you killed them.”

These are the numbers of armed warriors who joined David at Hebron. They were all eager to see David become king instead of Saul, just as the Lord had promised.

Wherever you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us!”

The Lord has done just as he said he would. He has torn the kingdom from you and given it to your rival, David.

“ Yes, Jonathan,” Saul said,“ you must die! May God strike me and even kill me if you do not die for this.”

Now the Lord said to Samuel,“ You have mourned long enough for Saul. I have rejected him as king of Israel, so fill your flask with olive oil and go to Bethlehem. Find a man named Jesse who lives there, for I have selected one of his sons to be my king.”But Samuel asked,“ How can I do that? If Saul hears about it, he will kill me.”“ Take a heifer with you,” the Lord replied,“ and say that you have come to make a sacrifice to the Lord.Invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you which of his sons to anoint for me.”So Samuel did as the Lord instructed. When he arrived at Bethlehem, the elders of the town came trembling to meet him.“ What’s wrong?” they asked.“ Do you come in peace?”“ Yes,” Samuel replied.“ I have come to sacrifice to the Lord. Purify yourselves and come with me to the sacrifice.” Then Samuel performed the purification rite for Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice, too.When they arrived, Samuel took one look at Eliab and thought,“ Surely this is the Lord’s anointed!”But the Lord said to Samuel,“ Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”Then Jesse told his son Abinadab to step forward and walk in front of Samuel. But Samuel said,“ This is not the one the Lord has chosen.”Next Jesse summoned Shimea, but Samuel said,“ Neither is this the one the Lord has chosen.”In the same way all seven of Jesse’s sons were presented to Samuel. But Samuel said to Jesse,“ The Lord has not chosen any of these.”Then Samuel asked,“ Are these all the sons you have?”“ There is still the youngest,” Jesse replied.“ But he’s out in the fields watching the sheep and goats.”“ Send for him at once,” Samuel said.“ We will not sit down to eat until he arrives.”So Jesse sent for him. He was dark and handsome, with beautiful eyes. And the Lord said,“ This is the one; anoint him.”So as David stood there among his brothers, Samuel took the flask of olive oil he had brought and anointed David with the oil. And the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David from that day on. Then Samuel returned to Ramah.

David had refused to eat anything on the day of the funeral, and now everyone begged him to eat. But David had made a vow, saying,“ May God strike me and even kill me if I eat anything before sundown.”

And David told them to tell Amasa,“ Since you are my own flesh and blood, like Joab, may God strike me and even kill me if I do not appoint you as commander of my army in his place.”

“ What did the Lord say to you? Tell me everything. And may God strike you and even kill you if you hide anything from me!”

I have sworn an oath to David, and in my holiness I cannot lie:His dynasty will go on forever; his kingdom will endure as the sun.It will be as eternal as the moon, my faithful witness in the sky!” Interlude

The Lord said,“ I have made a covenant with David, my chosen servant. I have sworn this oath to him:‘ I will establish your descendants as kings forever; they will sit on your throne from now until eternity.’” Interlude
