我雖受膏為王、今猶荏弱、此洗魯雅之子、逼我太甚、願耶和華依惡人之惡而報之、

我雖受膏為王、今猶荏弱、而西魯雅之二子、桀驁不馴、願耶和華視惡人之罪戾、而報施焉。

我始受膏為王、今尚荏弱、此西魯雅二子強於我、願主循惡人所行之惡而報之、

And today, though I am the anointed king, I am weak, and these sons of Zeruiah are too strong for me. May the Lord repay the evildoer according to his evil deeds!”

I’m the anointed king. But today I’m weak. These sons of Zeruiah are too powerful for me. May the Lord pay back the one who killed Abner! May he pay him back for the evil thing he has done!”

And even though I am the anointed king, these two sons of Zeruiah— Joab and Abishai— are too strong for me to control. So may the Lord repay these evil men for their evil deeds.”

Morning by morning I will destroy all the wicked in the land, cutting off all the evildoers from the city of the Lord.

Alexander the coppersmith did me great harm; the Lord will repay him according to his deeds.

Give to them according to their work and according to the evil of their deeds; give to them according to the work of their hands; render them their due reward.

A king who sits on the throne of judgment winnows all evil with his eyes.

Then Joab came into the house to the king and said,“ You have today covered with shame the faces of all your servants, who have this day saved your life and the lives of your sons and your daughters and the lives of your wives and your concubines,because you love those who hate you and hate those who love you. For you have made it clear today that commanders and servants are nothing to you, for today I know that if Absalom were alive and all of us were dead today, then you would be pleased.Now therefore arise, go out and speak kindly to your servants, for I swear by the Lord, if you do not go, not a man will stay with you this night, and this will be worse for you than all the evil that has come upon you from your youth until now.”

and said to the judges,“ Consider what you do, for you judge not for man but for the Lord. He is with you in giving judgment.Now then, let the fear of the Lord be upon you. Be careful what you do, for there is no injustice with the Lord our God, or partiality or taking bribes.”

And say to him,‘ Be careful, be quiet, do not fear, and do not let your heart be faint because of these two smoldering stumps of firebrands, at the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria and the son of Remaliah.

And say to Amasa,‘ Are you not my bone and my flesh? God do so to me and more also, if you are not commander of my army from now on in place of Joab.’”

for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer.

All the horns of the wicked I will cut off, but the horns of the righteous shall be lifted up.

and that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love. For you will render to a man according to his work.

His mischief returns upon his own head, and on his own skull his violence descends.

“ Whoever strikes a man so that he dies shall be put to death.

take away the wicked from the presence of the king, and his throne will be established in righteousness.
