我雖受膏為王、今猶荏弱、此洗魯雅之子、逼我太甚、願耶和華依惡人之惡而報之、

我雖受膏為王、今猶荏弱、而西魯雅之二子、桀驁不馴、願耶和華視惡人之罪戾、而報施焉。

我始受膏為王、今尚荏弱、此西魯雅二子強於我、願主循惡人所行之惡而報之、

And today, though I am the anointed king, I am weak, and these sons of Zeruiah are too strong for me. May the Lord repay the evildoer according to his evil deeds!”

I’m the anointed king. But today I’m weak. These sons of Zeruiah are too powerful for me. May the Lord pay back the one who killed Abner! May he pay him back for the evil thing he has done!”

And I was gentle today, though anointed king. These men, the sons of Zeruiah, are more severe than I. The Lord repay the evildoer according to his wickedness!”

And even though I am the anointed king, these two sons of Zeruiah— Joab and Abishai— are too strong for me to control. So may the Lord repay these evil men for their evil deeds.”

The responsibility for their deaths will come back to Joab and to his descendants forever, but for David, his descendants, his dynasty, and his throne, there will be peace from the LORD forever.”Benaiah son of Jehoiada went up, struck down Joab, and put him to death. He was buried at his house in the wilderness.

Every morning I will destroy all the wicked of the land, wiping out all evildoers from the LORD’s city.

Alexander the coppersmith did great harm to me. The Lord will repay him according to his works.

Repay them according to what they have done— according to the evil of their deeds. Repay them according to the work of their hands; give them back what they deserve.

“ You also know what Joab son of Zeruiah did to me and what he did to the two commanders of Israel’s army, Abner son of Ner and Amasa son of Jether. He murdered them in a time of peace to avenge blood shed in war. He spilled that blood on his own waistband and on the sandals of his feet.Act according to your wisdom, and do not let his gray head descend to Sheol in peace.

David said,“ My son Solomon is young and inexperienced, and the house that is to be built for the LORD must be exceedingly great and famous and glorious in all the lands. Therefore, I will make provision for it.” So David made lavish preparations for it before his death.

A king sitting on a throne to judge separates out all evil with his eyes.

Then Joab went into the house to the king and said,“ Today you have shamed all your soldiers— those who saved your life as well as your sons, your wives, and your concubines—by loving your enemies and hating those who love you! Today you have made it clear that the commanders and soldiers mean nothing to you. In fact, today I know that if Absalom were alive and all of us were dead, it would be fine with you!“ Now get up! Go out and encourage your soldiers, for I swear by the LORD that if you don’t go out, not a man will remain with you tonight. This will be worse for you than all the trouble that has come to you from your youth until now!”

Then he said to the judges,“ Consider what you are doing, for you do not judge for a man, but for the LORD, who is with you in the matter of judgment.And now, may the terror of the LORD be on you. Watch what you do, for there is no injustice or partiality or taking bribes with the LORD our God.”

Say to him: Calm down and be quiet. Don’t be afraid or cowardly because of these two smoldering sticks, the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram, and the son of Remaliah.

And tell Amasa,‘ Aren’t you my flesh and blood? May God punish me and do so severely if you don’t become commander of my army from now on instead of Joab!’”

For it is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, because it does not carry the sword for no reason. For it is God’s servant, an avenger that brings wrath on the one who does wrong.

“ I will cut off all the horns of the wicked, but the horns of the righteous will be lifted up.”

and faithful love belongs to you, Lord. For you repay each according to his works.

His trouble comes back on his own head; his own violence comes down on top of his head.

“ Whoever strikes a person so that he dies must be put to death.

Ozem sixth, and David seventh.Their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. Zeruiah’s three sons: Abishai, Joab, and Asahel.

Remove the wicked from the king’s presence, and his throne will be established in righteousness.
