The king sang this lament for Abner:“ Should Abner have died as the lawless die?

King David sang a song of sadness over Abner. He said,“ Should Abner have died as sinful people do?

And the king lamented for Abner, saying,“ Should Abner die as a fool dies?

Then the king sang this funeral song for Abner:“ Should Abner have died as fools die?

and the king sang a lament for Abner: Should Abner die as a fool dies?

And the king sang a song of mourning for Abner and said,“ Should Abner die as a fool dies?

And the king lamented for Abner, and said, Should Abner die as a fool dieth?

and the king sang a lament for Abner: Should Abner die as a fool dies?

And the king lamented over Abner, and said, Died Abner as a fool dieth?

The king chanted the following lament for Abner:“ Should Abner have died like a fool?

The king lamented for Abner, and said,“ Should Abner die as a fool dies?

But she answered him,“ No, my brother, do not force me, for no such thing should be done in Israel. Do not do this disgraceful thing!And I, where could I take my shame? And as for you, you would be like one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, please speak to the king; for he will not withhold me from you.”

Then David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son,

Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying,“ Watch now, when Amnon’s heart is merry with wine, and when I say to you,‘ Strike Amnon!’ then kill him. Do not be afraid. Have I not commanded you? Be courageous and valiant.”So the servants of Absalom did to Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king’s sons arose, and each one got on his mule and fled.

“ As a partridge that broods but does not hatch, So is he who gets riches, but not by right; It will leave him in the midst of his days, And at his end he will be a fool.”

Jeremiah also lamented for Josiah. And to this day all the singing men and the singing women speak of Josiah in their lamentations. They made it a custom in Israel; and indeed they are written in the Laments.

And I will say to my soul,“ Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.”’But God said to him,‘ Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’

So I said in my heart,“ As it happens to the fool, It also happens to me, And why was I then more wise?” Then I said in my heart,“ This also is vanity.”For there is no more remembrance of the wise than of the fool forever, Since all that now is will be forgotten in the days to come. And how does a wise man die? As the fool!

A fool’s mouth is his destruction, And his lips are the snare of his soul.
