May his blood fall on the head of Joab and on his whole family! May Joab’s family never be without someone who has a running sore or leprosy or who leans on a crutch or who falls by the sword or who lacks food.”

May Joab and his whole family line be held accountable for spilling Abner’s blood! May Joab’s family never be without someone who has an open sore or skin disease. May his family never be without someone who has to use a crutch to walk. May his family never be without someone who gets killed by a sword. And may his family never be without someone who doesn’t have enough to eat.”

May it fall upon the head of Joab and upon all his father’s house, and may the house of Joab never be without one who has a discharge or who is leprous or who holds a spindle or who falls by the sword or who lacks bread!”

Joab and his family are the guilty ones. May the family of Joab be cursed in every generation with a man who has open sores or leprosy or who walks on crutches or dies by the sword or begs for food!”

May it hang over Joab’s head and his father’s whole family, and may the house of Joab never be without someone who has a discharge or a skin disease, or a man who can only work a spindle, or someone who falls by the sword or starves.”

May it turn upon the head of Joab and on all his father’s house; and may there not be eliminated from the house of Joab someone who suffers a discharge, or has leprosy, or holds the spindle, or falls by the sword, or lacks bread.”

Let it rest on the head of Joab and on all his father’s house; and let there never fail to be in the house of Joab one who has a discharge or is a leper, who leans on a staff or falls by the sword, or who lacks bread.”

願他的年日減少，願別人得到他的職份。願他的兒女成為孤兒，他的妻子成為寡婦。願他的兒女流離失所去乞討，從他們的廢墟中出來尋找食物。願債主奪走一切屬於他的，別人掠奪他的辛苦所得。願無人向他伸出慈愛的手，無人恩待他的孤兒。願他的後代被剪除，他們的名號在下一代被抹掉。願他祖先的罪孽被記在耶和華面前，不要讓他母親的罪被抹掉。願這些罪一直在耶和華面前，願耶和華把他們的名號從地上剪除；因為他從不記得施慈愛，卻追逼困苦人、貧窮人、心裡哀痛的人，要置他們於死地。他喜愛詛咒人，詛咒就臨到他；他不喜歡祝福人，祝福就遠離他。他把詛咒當作衣袍穿上，所以詛咒像水那樣進到他裡面，像油那樣進到他的骨頭裡。願詛咒如同他披戴在身上的衣服，又如他常常束上的腰帶。

大衛對他說：「你的血歸到你自己頭上！因為你親口指證自己，說：『我殺了耶和華的受膏者。』」

又因為他們曾流了聖徒們和先知們的血，現在你給了他們血喝，這是他們該受的。」

當以色列在各方面蒙福的時候，你卻要看到我居所的危難；你家中永遠不再有老年人。你家中沒被我從祭壇前剪除的人，必使你的眼睛衰竭、心裡憂傷；而所有你家中增添的人，都死於壯年。那將要臨到你兩個兒子何弗尼和非尼哈的事，就是給你的徵兆：他們二人將在同一天死去。「我將為自己興起一位忠實的祭司，他會照著我的心、我的靈行事；我將為他建造一個持久的家室，他必終生行在我受膏者的面前。你家中所有存留的人都將為一塊銀子、一塊餅，來向他下拜，說：『求你給我安排一個祭司的職份，好讓我有塊餅吃。』」

那些土人一看見那毒蛇懸在他的手上，就彼此說：「這個人一定是個殺人犯！雖然從海裡獲救了，但天理還是不讓他活著。」
